There are a lot of reasons behind how the differences in survival rates of grafts occur. Hello, I’m Kim Jin-Oh, the director of NHI(New Hair Institute) Today I’ll answer questions I got through blog comments. Shli Nini asked me about the survival rate of grafts after getting a hair transplant.
I heard that after about a year all the hairs that had been planted would have survived a 100%... So, is it really true that all my hairs will grow a 100% if I take good care of them? Or does it differ from patient to patient? A lot of people ask me if 10 grafts are transplanted if all 10 of them will grow, what percentage of survival would be considered a good result or common.
It is said that a good hair transplant has a survival rate of more than 90 percent. Studies of the survival rate of grafts suggest that hair transplant with a survival rate of 90-95% is excellent. If the survival rate of grafts is 80% to 90%, it is said to be a good result. There are a lot of reasons behind how the differences in survival rates of grafts occur.
The skills of the surgeon and the system of the surgery process are what is most important. The doctor has to perform the surgery well. No matter how well you hit a ball, it might not be a hit, right? However, just as players have to work hard to make good pitches, I’m always researching and working hard for example using long-term storage solutions or making holes in the scalp as regular as possible.
However, just like how players may still be out no matter how hard they try, if the hair follicles are extremely vulnerable to stress, the survival rate of the grafts may drop. If your hair biologically consists of many components that are not good for the survival rate of grafts or if your wounds have slow recovery rates, in such cases the survival rate of graft may also drop.
In addition this is why postoperative care also has some effect on the survival rate of grafts. It’s important to try to heal the wound as quickly as possible without external irritation for about 10 days after surgery. All in all, we can say that factors such as doctor’s skills, patient’s biological constitution, and postoperative care affect the survival rate of grafts. Did this answer your question?
If you have any other good questions, I’ll answer them. Thank you for watching. If you have any questions, please leave a comment on my blog and I’ll answer them through a blog or YouTube.
