Is There a Tunnel From Downing Street to Parliament? During the Second World War, the British Prime Minister was based at 10 Downing Street. This was the official address for the British Prime Minister and his family until the early 1960s. This was also the address of Sir Winston Churchill, who stayed in the role as Prime Minister until 1955.
