Hello, I’m Doctor Jaehyun Park at Dana Plastic Surgery. There is an official journal called the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. I was the first to ever publish about female hairline correction secondary revision surgery in this official journal. My knowledge through years of experience, and all the surgery techniques is in the thesis that I published in the SCI journal.
Female hairline correction secondary revision surgery 246 cases and 8 important factors. The hairline surgery is not clearly established Which makes secondary revision surgery less established. Therefore, the thesis I published has a significant meaning. 246 different cases of female hairline correction revision surgery. Please like and subscribe to our channel!
Let me tell you the important points. First of all, before performing the surgery, there are a lot of things to check. Back of the head, hairline design, width of the forehead, the direction of the hair follicle angle, density and the condition of the skin, etc. It is not a simple matter of just getting a transplant. If it is necessary, we will have to shave or use a punch to extract it.
If it needs to be transplanted then it should be. If the scar tissue has to be removed or softened, The methods I mentioned earlier should be prioritized. I stated all of this systematically in the thesis. If you plan to undergo surgery, we have to check the back of the head and the area of implantation.
According to our research, about 60% of the surgery was done by FUT. But a considerable number was done by FUE because there was Not enough elasticity in the scalp. This thesis reviews 246 cases which makes it quite a big research. It took a long time to observe, track and to assess the results. 63.4% underwent hair transplant once, 17% had done it 2 times
and 17% had it done 3 times. There were even people who underwent hair transplant 4 times which was about 2.4%. There were a lot of people who had hair transplant previously And it takes about 3.6 years for those who wanted secondary revision surgery to come to our clinic. Secondary revision surgery is done by FUT 63%,
Partially shaven FUE 4.9%, FUE and FUT combined at about 9.8% And non-shaven FUE at about 22% which is higher than what we thought. Most of the surgery was done by FUT but if there is not enough elasticity because of previous hair transplant the surgery will have to be done by FUE or FUT and FUE combined and if shaving is not an option, we did it non-shaven.
The ratio of non-shaven is 1 per 4~5 people which is pretty high. So, the most frequent complaints patients had after their first procedure was the low density of hair. Another complaint is the wrong angle and direction of the hair follicle and the unnatural look of the transplanted hair. Another reason was the awkward design of the hairline.
If you look at table 1, you can see all the reasons that we have analyzed. And in table 2 you can see the treatment for the causes. We applied the right treatment for each case. 8 important factors for female hairline correction revision surgery. I won’t go any deeper about this in this video. I said that there are 8 important factors for
female hairline revision surgery. First of all, the severity of scar tissues around the implanted area. Areas like this will need treatment beforehand and ultimately undergo surgery in order to get satisfactory results. For more detail visit a hospital and consult with your doctor.
It is best to consult with a doctor about revision surgery. Additionally, there might be a problem with the donor area. It could have no elasticity which makes it impossible for further FUT. For cases like this we use FUE and non-shaven FUE and like I said, our clinic had over 22% who underwent non-shaven FUE. And there are some cases where the patients are afraid of FUT procedure.
They might have experienced a lot of pain during the first procedure. So, it is wise to go to a clinic where they can do a variety of method. The third point is simply gradation. If the hair on the front is thicker but the shape density and everything else is perfect, you won’t need revision surgery. All you have to do is get a laser treatment to thin out the thick hair.
And it will look a lot more natural with natural gradation which means no surgery is required. We have a lot of knowledge about this laser treatment and there aren’t that many clinics out there where they provide laser treatment. There could be 1~3 hair follicles in one graft. 2 and 3 hair follicles will naturally look thicker. So we have to think about
how to distribute these follicles. This is about the surgical technique of the doctor. The fifth factor is that the sharp implanters had better results than the slit method. However, the sharp implanter might not be recommended if there is too much blood. In this case slit method will be better
which is also mentioned in the thesis. This is why I always emphasize that there is no answer to which method is better. I can tell you that generally, the sharp implanters might be better But in some cases when it’s not we could change to the slit method. My opinion is that it is best if the doctor can perform both methods.
The next factor is that hairline should never be in a straight line. There is a peak in the middle and on the sides as well. We have to make it irregularly irregular to make it look natural and not like a doll. Or else it will look like the head of a doll. It is important to make it look irregular in order to look natural. The seventh factor is how to extract fine hair?
If you are going to use FUT use the side or the hair on the back Which I stated in the thesis. So how are you going to extract fine hair in order to get natural results? And the last factor is if the hair is thick Using laser treatment to thin out the hair will help. I discussed these factors in the thesis.
I had previously published a thesis on SCI journal about hairline revision surgery in 2013 which was quite a long time ago. And after about 6 years, no one has ever published a thesis or research data about this topic. I was the first to present a thesis with over 200 cases of revision surgery on an SCI scale journal and help people with hairline problems.
I wish this has helped those who had unsatisfactory results from their first surgery and for those who are having stress with their hairline. "Next episode: Robot hair transplant pros and cons"
