Hello, doctor Yes, hello The weather has gotten really cool lately Yes, that's true Hmm... [Broken reaction] That’s right
Today, I have a rather sensitive question... A sensitive question? [Bring it on] Alright Plastic surgeons are just salesmen Salesmen? But we’re doctors
We are selling medical procedures, that’s true But it’s not for sick people, it’s for improving appearance So, we often get seen as people selling a product I think that’s why people say those things But if you look at it more closely, improving appearance
Also improves the mind, so Pushing it too much in that direction might be a bit much We are doctors who heal the heart, after all Honestly, plastic surgery is too expensive [It's subjective] It really depends on the person In cosmetic surgery
Other developed countries are much more expensive than Korea Considering the quality of medical care, it’s actually quite affordable here But I can understand why patients might think the cost is a bit high compared to medical procedures for sick people For procedures regulated by the government Patients cover part of the cost But insurance helps cover some of the treatment costs
So the burden on patients is reduced But for cosmetic surgeries at our clinic, insurance doesn't cover them and patients bear 100% of the cost, so it feels more expensive Why is it more expensive abroad? The prices are just set much higher For example, a single facial bone surgery in the U.S. can cost up to 100,000 dollars
In Japan, it’s about 5-6 times more expensive than here That’s why many Japanese patients come to our clinic Because the medical skill in Korea is higher, the results are better And the costs are lower Even with the flight and hotel expenses, it’s cheaper overall [More cost-effective] That’s why they come
But I do need some liposuction I might ask Dr. Kim Sung-cheol for that later... Are you planning on it? Oh, I have to [Protecting your eyes] I need to take care of myself as I get older...
I have to do it. But I don’t think he’ll help me Any awkward encounters with your patients? I live near Gangnam Station [Wrong encounter] Sometimes I run into patients I've operated on But we both pretend not to know each other We definitely recognize each other
I know they’ve noticed me, and they know I’ve noticed them But we both act like we don’t know Do you want them to greet you? [Just walk by, please] No, not at all About 80-90% of women who have surgery want to keep it a secret [So sweet] So we pretend not to know
What if they ran up to you calling, "Mister"? Oh no, I’ve been working for 24 years, and that has never happened even once Do you have a personal preference for face shapes? [Serious] I prefer... I don’t like overly glamorous faces I like more elegant and slightly cute features
[Embarrassed] But a doctor's personal preference doesn’t affect the surgery There’s no right answer in cosmetic surgery For something like stomach cancer surgery, based on the stage There’s a set way of cutting and treating it But cosmetic surgery isn’t like that
It depends on the patient’s needs, my experience, and the data from tests We predict the outcome based on all that And then incorporate the patient’s additional requests into the surgery No, I mean your personal preference I can’t really express it well It's not just about face shape
It’s the eyes, nose, lip line, expressions, smiles, it’s the combination of all these things... You can’t really pinpoint a specific look Ah, then the facial features... Alright, stop asking
