Hello this is Dr. Hoon of Woori Beauty TV Today I'll be telling you about midface lift surgery For which there are quite a few misconceptions When we use the terms "mini face lift" or "face lift" The sagging in the sides of the midface, lower face, or the lower jawline These conditions are what face lifts are meant to improve
So what does the midface lift surgery do? I hear a lot of people asking We can divide the face into the upper face, midface and lower face The baselines can be the space between the eyebrows and the space between the nostrils Separating the face into the upper, middle, and lower thirds Within the midface, the midface lift surgery specifically conerns
The lump of fat located around this area in the frontal cheek This lump of fat's referred to as SOOF Which stands for Sub Orbicularis Oculi Fat SOOF's an acronym made with the first letter of each word There's this part called the orbicularis muscle It's a muscle that surrounds the eye and covers the area around it in a circle
And it's the muscle we use to blink The SOOF is located directly under this muscle That's what the name implies as well It's the layer of fat underneath the orbicularis oculi While we're young, these lumps of fat Stay tight and bouncy, as you can see over here
But as the years go by and we start aging They begin to droop Now, when they start drooping Your smile lines look a lot more weighted The lumps forming huge belt shapes above them When that happens, your overall demeanor
Looks older, more tired, less energetic These people tend to consider a midface lift There are two main types of midface lift surgery The first one's the non-invasive method And the second's the open method Truthfully, no matter the method, there has to be some degree of incision
The difference is whether or not a skin incision is involved The type of surgery we call "non-invasive" Includes the eyebag rearrangement surgery, commonly done at our hospital If you flip open your lower eyelid There's a red mucosa tissue known as the conjunctiva The eyebag rearrangement surgery cuts this area off
Much like this eyebag rearrangement surgery, the non-invasive method starts off by severing the conjuctiva Detaching it from the inside and then approaching the aforementioned SOOF As for the open method, much like the lower eyelid surgery It makes a cut on the skin along the lines of the lower eyelid and enters the SOOF from there As for why we use two methods When the non-invasive method is used,
It's when lifting the lump of fat is all that needs to be done in the operation That's when we use the non-invasive method As for the open method It's used when the skin or muscle sag needs to be improved as well Much like the lower eyelid surgery It's only used when skin incision is necessary
Today I've told you about the midface lift surgery This was Dr. Hoon of Woori Beauty TV Thank you
