Hello, this is Byung-su Kang, chief manager for Woori Plastic Surgery We see a lot of foreigners coming to get plastic surgery nowadays This video is for questions they may have What to prepare before the surgery, what to keep in mind after the surgery These are what I'll be covering today Of course, getting instructions from our hospital personally would be ideal

But I thought it'd be helpful to go over the basics first So that is why I've prepared this video At Woori Plastic Surgery, while it'd obviously be better for you to show your face in person [Q1. Can I seek a consultation at Woori Plastic Surgery with only my pictures?] You can also consult us using your photographs But here's something to keep in mind; people tend to use apps to take photos of themselves

But when you send us pictures using those apps, they look quite different from how you actually look So please turn off their features, and there's also a beauty feature on most cameras So turn that off as well, so since we'll make you look better than those features can Set your camera to default And take pictures of your face from both sides, from the front and from 45 degree angles

If you send us these either as pictures or as a video They'll be very helpful for your pre-surgical consultation and you'll be able to consult us with your photos alone This also applies if you wish for a reoperation [Q1-1. Can a consultation be made through pictures if I want a reoperation?] Keep in mind that if you have pictures of yourself taken before your first surgery

Sending us those along with pictures you've taken after your first surgery will be very helpful And please tell us which surgery you took previously Especially for nose and eye related surgeries, tell us exactly what type of surgery and what materials were used in the process If you write those down and send them to us, they'll also prove to be quite useful

Nowadays, consulting us in person is far from the only way to make an appointment [Q2. Is there anything to watch out for in case I make an appointment only using my pictures?] Many foreigners make surgery appointments through just pictures and videos And come to Korea later on If this is the method you want, you have to keep in mind that if you come to consult us in person We may deem your surgery less necessary

For example, if we decided on you taking a face lift surgery We might advise you to take a mini lift instead Or you may be planning on getting an epicanthoplasty and a canthoplasty but when we look at you in person we might decide that you don't need the former Cases like these are very likely to happen And on the other hand, we might decide you need extra surgeries

Or change the surgery you're planning to take to a more advanced one So basically, the surgery you'll be taking might change a little over time That's what you'd want to know in advance Also, if you have any allergies or if you're taking any medication It'd be advisable to let us know Because you'd be better off dropping certain types of medicine a couple days before the surgery

And if you have allergies, a medical history or heart disease We'll have to prepare medicine for those conditions And sometimes we need a doctor's note from a hospital in your country, telling us it's okay to proceed with the surgery So, if you suffer from a condition If you're taking medication, or if you have allergies It would help out a ton if you notify us in advance

[Q3. How long do you recommend I stay in Korea for after the surgery?] It's highly dependent on which surgery you take If it's a basic eye surgery, you'll be good to go in about two to three days The same goes for nose surgeries, but in that case You'll have to get your stitches removed at your home country And if it's a face lift or a mini lift surgery

We advise you to stay for about a week, since it's better for you to get your stitches removed here And face contouring surgery will need about a week as well If you took surgery on a bigger scale such as body shaping surgery You may have to stay for over a week Of course, depending on your condition It may be better for you to directly consult the hospital

Regarding the period of your stay, it'll be advisable to have a chat with the manager or the hospital staff And double check the time you'll be staying for [Q4. What kind of anesthesia do you use during the surgery?] For eye and nose surgeries or face lifts We use either regional anesthesia or sedation For face contouring or more advanced nose surgery, like treating a crooked nose Or things like breast surgery or

Body shaping surgery, we'll be using general anesthesia And our orthopaedy has two experienced anesthesiologists So you won't have anything to worry about [Q5. Will the seasons affect the results or the recovery from the surgery?] There used to be a lot of concern over operating in warm weathers Because patients would sweat a lot, but nowadays as you all know The hotels and the hospital have great air conditioning

So whether it be winter or summer, there's barely a difference [Q6. How should I reserve a place to stay?] As for lodgings, it's less about picking a good place and more about picking one near the hospital Woori Plastic Surgery has some hotels we're affiliated with So if you ask us in advance, we'll help you make a reservation

[Q7. Is there anything to watch out for until I get my stitches removed?] After plastic surgery, the wounds tend to be rather sanitary So there's no need for you, the patient, to try touching or sanitizing them It's best if you just leave your wounds be until the time to remove the stitches comes We'll rub off the scabs caused by the surgery the day after So it's better if you don't lay a hand on your injuries

That's all you need to look out for Of course, it's harmful for things like makeup or water to enter your wounds So try not to get water, makeup, soap and the like near where your stitches are [Q8. Should I remove the stitches at the hospital I got them from before I leave?] It's best for you to remove the stitches in the hospital you took the surgery in

Since the stitches have to be extracted while examining the wounds In some cases you may have get some of the stitches removed after a day or two And sometimes you may have to leave them be and get them removed after a long time But if the patients have important business, staying in Korea just to wait to get their stitches removed Can be financially and mentally taxing

So in that case we let them return to and get their stitches removed at their home countries If that happens, since stitches used in plastic surgery tend to be especially thin It's advisable to check if the hospital you want to get them removed in can handle them And from Woori Plastic Surgery, you'd want to get a doctor's note

Telling you when's the best time to get your stitches extracted and what to look out for in the process [Q9. Is there anything I should be wary of on my plane ride home after the surgery?] While you're on a plane, your altitude will rise the farther you travel So the air pressure will decrease, which might worsen your swelling But usually, if it's not a big surgery, it's fine if you fly back home a little early

And if it is a big surgery people usually take the plane after at least a week So you'll rarely have your wounds burst open because of the plane you're in So don't worry too much about it While you're going through immigrations at the airport, since your face looks different You might not be allowed entry Since the face in your passport photo wouldn't match your face right now

And because you may not be allowed entry Make sure to get a confirmation of operation form from the hospital Proving that the patient in question had surgery that alters their face And that the swelling from the surgery may make them appear different Having this form will help let you through

[Q10. How do I deal with potential side effects after returning to my country?] Well, it's rather unlikely for there to be any side effects Especially not anything serious But you might get an infection or something like that Said infections are less likely to spread the longer it's been since your surgery And most of them can be cured by simple antibiotics and such So don't panic, and go to the nearest hospital
