Hi guys, my name is Dr. Midi Ojo. I’m from London, UK. I’m a cosmetic dentist, and I’m the co-owner of a company called Smilefast. I focus on cosmetic dentistry and implants.

As you know, I started a concept called the Startup in Dentistry movement in the UK. And what I’ve seen today is the epitome of the perfect startup practice. This is a practice that hasn’t scrimped on anything. It’s done everything professionally: the planning, the organization, the structure. And what I’ve seen today is probably the most efficient dental practice I’ve ever seen.

I think the clinic is a real inspiration on how to organize a comprehensive workflow for patients. So you can see from planning to design to execution and delivery of the work that everything has been thought of. The workflow that the patient has here is very streamlined, and therefore the quality of care is very exceptional.

From the moment we walked in, the main waiting room, or reception, the fact that you had a proper coffee shop-type thing was quite impressive. With regards to the building itself and the way it’s been designed, I like how there’s a lot of natural light coming in. The way they’ve designed each floor, each room, is all glass. Otherwise, it would have looked quite claustrophobic.

I’ve never seen any clinical systems like this anywhere in the world. And the fact that every single floor has the same procedures and processes means that it’s a well-oiled machine. I really have been blown away by what I’ve seen today.

The Harry Plant center, I think the implant workflow was really quite impressive, from the digital CBCT processes and the workflows to the planning using the VTEC software. And then the thing that I really liked as well was the plasma for processing the implants, which just makes sense. They really haven’t spared anything. So it means that not only is it a beautiful-looking practice, but the patient experience is going to be at a very high level.

I think having the lab in-house and having all of the design from the prosthetic side in-house to plan the cases is important, because when you’re doing surgery there’s obviously a big component of prosthetics and restorative that you need to be aware of. And if you have your technicians with you, you can plan the cases together, and that’s going to deliver a much more streamlined workflow and quicker time frames for your patient as well. I think the learning from the prosthetic side for a surgeon, and the surgeon learning about the design side from the technician, is going to really aid patient quality and the outcome.

So I think having all of the design and the fabrication in-house is a real exceptional thing to have achieved. You’ve got a lot of highly skilled professionals working away. I was just generally impressed with how slick the operation is.

I believe all patients are welcome here, whereas in the UK you tend to get a bit of a two-tier system going on. So that’s really refreshing to see as well, because we get a lot of complex cases in our clinic, and I’m sure they do here. And I think if you’ve got like-minded individuals that understand their fields very comprehensively, you can really achieve incredible results. So having like-minded people with all of the tech and the equipment, that’s where I think the future is for dentistry.

Yeah, I mean, I have to say Harplant goes over and above. I mean, for the first time I’ve seen the plasma system, but seeing three in each clinical room, you can tell that this clinic has really gone and thought about every single part of the process, and it’s like no other clinic I’ve ever seen in the world, if I’m honest.
