Did you know that this habit can have a bigger impact on your skin than you might think? Over time, wrinkles can become more noticeable on one side of the face, making the face appear less even. It's easy to think that skin aging is simply a result of getting older. In fact, however, small everyday habits
can often contribute to premature skin aging. Are there any things you do regularly that may have a negative effect on your skin? Today, I'd like to share five bad habits that may accelerate skin aging. If you simply pay a little more attention to these five habits,
you may be able to help slow the progression of skin aging and maintain your overall skin condition. The first is not using sunscreen indoors. Many people know the importance of sunscreen, but it can be difficult to make it part of your daily routine. You may wonder, "Do I really need sunscreen when I'm at home?"
UV rays can also reach you indoors. UV rays can pass through windows and affect your skin over time, potentially contributing to pigmentation, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. So rather than thinking about sunscreen only when you go outside, consider using it indoors as well, especially when spending time near windows. The second is excessive dieting.
Dieting can be important for your health, but if you lose weight too quickly, the loss of facial volume may contribute to reduced elasticity and sagging. The face is no exception. Rapid weight loss can lead to hollow cheeks or a less defined jawline,
which may make you look older. When it comes to dieting, balance and sustainability matter more than speed. Because rapid weight loss can put stress on the body and skin, a slow, steady approach with a balanced diet is a better way to care for both your skin and your body. The third is washing your face with hot water.
Washing your face with very hot water can damage or weaken the skin barrier. It can remove some of the skin's natural oils along with dirt, which can increase dryness and, when repeated, make fine lines more noticeable. For this reason, washing your face gently with lukewarm water is much kinder to your skin.
Frequent sauna use can also increase moisture loss from the skin, making it feel even drier. When the skin repeatedly becomes dry, it can lose moisture more easily, so it's better to avoid excessive exposure to high heat. The fourth is not moisturizing right after washing your face. Immediately after cleansing, the skin can lose moisture quickly.
If you don't moisturize promptly, your skin may become dry and fine lines may appear more noticeable. Your overall skin condition can also become less stable. So after cleansing, try to moisturize as soon as possible. Applying a moisturizer while the skin is still slightly damp can help maintain moisture
and support the skin barrier. The fifth and final habit is sleeping on your side. Did you know this habit may have a bigger impact on your skin than you think? When you sleep on your side, one side of your face is repeatedly compressed, which may contribute to sleep wrinkles. Over time, wrinkles on one side of the face
may become more noticeable. Sleeping on your back can help reduce pressure on the face during sleep. Of course, sleeping on your side may feel more comfortable, but if possible, try getting used to sleeping on your back. This may help reduce repeated pressure on the face while you sleep.
Skin aging is not simply a problem caused by getting older. It can also be influenced by small habits that build up over time. Expensive treatments and high-end skincare products can be helpful, but before that, reviewing and improving your daily habits can be a much more important first step. Of the five habits I mentioned today,
if you recognize even one in your daily routine, try changing it one step at a time. Small changes can make a big difference not only to your skin but also to your overall health. Remember that your skin reflects the habits you practice every day, and try to take a little better care of it.
Small daily efforts can ultimately help you maintain younger-looking, healthier skin. This has been Hyok Sue Oh of W Plastic Surgery. Thank you.
