Glabellar wrinkles are not simply caused by dry skin. Moisturizing or massage alone may have limitations. When you look in the mirror and start noticing wrinkles between your eyebrows that weren't there before, they can suddenly become something you worry about more than you expected. So you may try massaging the area at home, apply creams, and try all sorts of things,

but many people become concerned because the wrinkles don't improve as easily as they expected. So today, I'd like to explain how to manage glabellar wrinkles at home and why wrinkles tend to form more easily in this particular area. Let's take a look together. The glabellar area is a part of the face where the expression muscles are used very frequently.

When concentrating, when exposed to bright light, or when feeling stressed, we may unconsciously frown, causing the skin to fold repeatedly. When this process is repeated over and over, wrinkles that initially appear only when making facial expressions can eventually become deep, permanent wrinkles that remain visible even when the face is at rest.

That's why it's important to start managing glabellar wrinkles as soon as they begin to appear. So, what can you do at home? The most important thing is massage to relax the muscles. It is best to do this after cleansing your face or immediately after applying toner and lotion, when the skin is still well moisturized. First, using your fingertips between the eyebrows,

gently massage up and down to relax the muscles, and massage the center of the glabella in small circular motions. This can help relax areas where the muscles are tense. Another method is to gently stretch the skin in the opposite direction from where the wrinkle forms. Because glabellar wrinkles typically form vertically,

gently stretching the skin in the opposite direction may help prevent the wrinkles from becoming deeper to some extent. Moisturizing is also important. When the skin is dry, wrinkles can become more easily established, so it is a good idea to use a dedicated cream or moisturizer to maintain the condition of your skin.

But there is an important point to keep in mind here. Glabellar wrinkles are not simply caused by dry skin. Because repeated muscle movement is the main cause, moisturizing and massage alone may have limitations. Especially if the habit of frowning unconsciously continues, the wrinkles can form again.

So in such cases, we may also consider methods that reduce the movement of the muscles themselves. A representative option is Botox. Botox can reduce excessive movement of the glabellar muscles, helping prevent wrinkles from becoming deeper and potentially helping to improve existing wrinkles as well.

Especially for people who habitually use their glabellar muscles frequently, the results can be even more dramatic. For those who have concerns or reservations about Botox, I sometimes explain it with this analogy. You have to put on makeup every day, but Botox is like putting on makeup once every six months. How convenient would that be?

Even if you massage the area consistently and pay close attention to moisturizing, if you continue to be concerned about persistent glabellar wrinkles, considering Botox may be one option. Today, we looked at ways to manage glabellar wrinkles at home. The most important thing is to consistently manage them

from the early stage when wrinkles first begin to appear. Managing them during this stage can help prevent the wrinkles from becoming deeper. However, if wrinkles have already become established, home care alone may have limitations in improving them. In such cases, it may be beneficial to also consider methods that help control muscle movement.

From now on, take a moment to check your facial expression habits and skin condition, and I hope you can start taking care of the area, even in small ways. This has been Hyok Sue Oh from W Plastic Surgery. Thank you.
