You've been moisturizing, treating yourself to treatments and taking care of your skin all winter long But all that hard work can be undone in the first month of spring

There are three things that are essential this time of year The first is to apply the right amount of sunscreen at the right time the second is to

use antioxidants to fight the sun's damage from within, and the third is to get a treatment if you need to so that your skin

is ready for spring Hi, I'm Wonjin Joo from Skin A Glimpse Nice to meet you When it comes to ultraviolet rays, there's UvE and UvIB Everyone is familiar with them, right

Now, it is mainly UVB that causes skin aging It's 80 to 90% in the summer, starting in the spring, and already in the summer It's like a building

You can think of UVB as peeling the paint off the exterior walls and UVA as rusting the rebar inside You can't see it right away, but the structure is crumbling from the inside

So if you let your guard down in the spring, you can already have a lot of damage to the collagen in your skin before summer even comes And then you're going to

go into the fall and you're going to be like, uh, why is my skin so wet, why is it suddenly so dark So the first thing

is obviously sunscreen When you're putting on sunscreen the most important thing is quantity Now, they say a good amount is usually the size of a quarter You need to apply a good amount of

it evenly so that you get some of the benefits of the SPF number on the label And just having a high SPF number is not enough, right

Well, SPF is a UVB protection factor and PA is a UVA protection factor And like I said, it's the UVA that we really need to watch out for in the spring So it's important to have

a product with a PA rating of three plus I'm only indoors, I'm only at home, I'm only in the office, but even if you say that UV rays go through glass windows

Especially UVA, it does go through glass so if you're indoors, especially if you're sitting by a window, you should definitely pack a sunscreen and put it on So if you put it on once, you're

good for the rest of the day You sweat, you bleed, you get water on it, and hopefully it will wash off faster If you apply it thoroughly once before you

go out and then reapply once at lunch you'll be pretty well protected If you don't like the creamy kind and it's a little bit of

a hassle to reapply, there are cushiony ones or rub-on sticks, right You can carry these sunscreens in your pocket and apply them so that's another option

The second is antioxidant care If sunscreen is a shield antioxidants can be thought of as a repairman who repairs damage that has already been done The big one is vitamin C

I emphasize this a lot Vitamin C is what fights free radicals from the sun When you get sunburned, there's this stuff in your skin that attacks your collagen and

your cells, and it's called free radicals But it neutralizes them So if you take a high dose of

vitamin C every day and add a vitamin C serum to your regimen it can help However, with vitamin C cosmetics, sensitive skin can

become irritated or even allergic to it I recommend that you test it beforehand and start with a lower concentration This brings us to

the third treatment If your at-home care is basic, you can think of it as a more active way to protect your skin

In spring, skin problems increase due to fine dust and yellow dust and the change in temperature and humidity So when spring comes we always utilize hydrogen therapy

or equipment such as LDM Pladio to soothe sensitive skin And one of my favorite treatments in the spring is

laser toning I mentioned earlier that UV rays are stronger in the spring So the pigmentation that you may have unknowingly accumulated over the winter can creep up

in the spring Laser toning can clean up that pigmentation and even out your skin tone I've mentioned before that laser toning is

like a workout You can't just go in and do it all at once and it's not going to change your life you have to do

it consistently to see gradual improvement And this skin booster is another treatment to consider this time of year It's a great way to replenish moisture and nutrients to your skin from the

inside out after a dry winter You need a strong skin barrier to protect against UV rays, and a skin booster can help rebuild that barrier

But won't laser treatments actually make my skin more vulnerable to UV rays Is it okay to get it in the spring Oh, this is a question we get asked a lot

Yes, you're right After a laser treatment, your skin may be temporarily more sensitive and dry That's why it's so important to take care

of it afterward You'll need to be more diligent with your sunscreen than usual after your treatment It's a good idea to be a little bit

cautious about being outdoors in direct sunlight for about a week after the procedure Hats, parasols sunglasses, scarves, and other

physical barriers are also recommended This doesn't mean that you shouldn't have it done in the spring

In fact, it's much more beneficial to get your skin set up for summer However, if you neglect to take care of your skin after the treatment, it can be counterproductive

so it's best to discuss this with your doctor There's one thing I really want to emphasize here What I've talked about today are

general guidelines Everyone's skin type is different some people have medical conditions some people are taking medications, and some people are more sensitive to UV rays

because of these things So if you're thinking about getting a treatment it's important to have a consultation with a doctor who can properly assess your skin condition If you enjoyed today's video
