Welcome to Implant 101, Part 2-1. We need the CT and the X-ray to check the bone density, width, and depth before placing the implant. Bone graft helps the bone regenerate, and the healing abutment serves as a placeholder before the permanent abutment and crown go on top.

Hi, Charlie.

Hello.

Welcome to Implant 101, Part 2-1.

Yay. Implant right here. So, there's a part that we call fixture at the bottom. This is the root and ab right here. And then later, the crown. Tada. Yes, you need the CT and the X-ray because we have to see the bones, if the bone density is good, the width and the depth. Yeah, 100%. Because it's going to be the foundation for the implant to go into this part right here. Bone graft is basically helping the bones to regenerate. It's not like putting the actual bone like our teeth. The bones inside of the gum is a little softer. So we put the bone that's going to help to regenerate the bones inside. Usually it takes like 3 to 4 months. We're going to have the fixture first right here. Put it in, and then it's going to wait up for 3 months for the abutment and the crown to go on top of it. Yeah. First when the fixture goes in, we're going to have to wait for 3 months. [music] And then we're going to need to know where the fixture is at. So we're going to put a healing abutment. This is the actual abutment. Then it goes in, and then it's going to become the placeholder. So later when we have to have the abutment and the crown on top of it, we don't have to make another incision. We can just put the abutment right. It's basically 3 to 4 months too. Correct. The healing abutment is basically not a permanent one. And then later something like this will be the permanent abutment. Yes, it definitely looks like real teeth. It's natural, and it's the crown that we make. No, you can. Yes, of course. [laughter]
