[Music] Hello. Thank you for having us here at Oak Dental Clinic. Could you please first quickly introduce yourself a little bit to us?
Yeah, I am the founder of the dental clinic, and I have been practicing dentistry for 30 years.
Perfect. So today we will have a few questions about dental crowns. And the first question is: what is a dental crown, and when is it necessary?
A dental crown is a kind of cap. It covers the tooth shape when the tooth is cracked or chipped by some forces, maybe, or broken. We can make a cap to maintain the natural tooth. Also, we can make crowns for implants, or sometimes we make bridges to recover the function in the missing areas.
Perfect, thank you. So how long do dental crowns typically last?
As long as the proper material is chosen, there should be no problem. They can last forever, for a lifetime. In our clinic, we use zirconia. Zirconia is one of the most durable and very strong materials, so there is no problem. It can last forever.
Perfect. So you mentioned right now that there are different types of crowns. So how do I know that I choose the right one for myself? How is that decided?
Depending on the size of the cavity and depending on the position of the tooth, we choose the materials. Sometimes, in the front areas, where aesthetics are important, we use porcelain materials. But it is a relatively weak material, so in back areas, where strong forces are anticipated, we use zirconia to recover function and chewing efficiency.
Next question is: does getting a dental crown hurt? What are the pain levels?
In most cases, when people start making a crown, we do anesthesia. So as long as proper anesthesia is done properly, there is no problem. And also, after preparation, we make temporaries to prevent stimuli such as cold and heat. But there is no problem.
That's good to know. So do I need to follow any special aftercare instructions for dental crowns?
Yeah, actually, our staff and the treatment team will give you proper instructions. But if there are any questions or concerns, you can contact them anytime, 24 hours, 7 days.
Perfect, thank you. So can I eat and drink normally with dental crowns?
Yeah, there is no problem. But for the time being, while the restoration is being made, you can have temporaries, and temporaries can protect your teeth perfectly. There is no problem at all.
Perfect. And are there any risks or complications associated with dental crowns?
Yeah, if the patient takes care of the tooth normally and hygienic measures are taken properly, there is no problem at all.
That's perfect. So one more question: are there alternatives to crowns for tooth restoration? Are there any other ways than crowns?
Actually, crowns are made for heavily fractured teeth or heavily chipped teeth. But sometimes, if the size is small and the fracture extent is small, caries can be replaced with onlays or small fillings. Or sometimes you can use polymer material instead of ceramic.
Perfect. And the very last question: how do you make your crowns here at Oaks Dental Clinic?
Actually, we are frontiers in this kind of CAD/CAM, one-day to two-month system. We are a pioneer in Korea, so most of the restorations are made by ourselves in our clinic by our technicians. So sometimes porcelain and PFM crowns can be done in just one day, but zirconia is done in two steps. But all of the processes are made by ourselves in our lab. So yeah, I'm proud of our skills, only that in this process and that kind of process.
Perfect, thank you so much for today.
Okay, thank you.
