As we age, many of us notice some sagging and a less defined jawline. You've probably heard of treatments like Ultherapy and Thermage. But the discomfort can be a concern, and the cost is not insignificant. Some people simply want a subtle, natural improvement rather than a dramatic change. Today, I'll explain how Titanium Lifting differs from Ultherapy and Thermage.

Many people think Titanium Lifting is a recent development. You may have heard of a device called TuneFace. It was made by Alma, an Israeli company known for radiofrequency lifting devices. Alma also made a hair-removal laser called Soprano. In the 2010s, Soprano was widely used as a premium hair-removal device. Then came the idea of adapting it for lifting treatments.

If you've had laser hair removal, you know it can sting quite a bit. The light from this laser can penetrate beneath the skin. So the energy settings were adjusted to build heat deeper inside. Lifting treatments work by stimulating collagen production. That gradually lifts the face. So why not try achieving that with a laser?

You can feel the heat deep inside, right? Soprano was upgraded and developed into a device called Soprano Titanium. Since the 2020s, it has been widely used in many clinics. Thermage delivers radiofrequency energy from the skin to a grounding pad placed on the back. It became widely used to improve skin firmness without creating a hollow appearance. It also tends to cause less fat atrophy than many other treatments.

Thermage suits sagging caused by reduced surface firmness. Ultherapy, on the other hand, uses ultrasound. It heats deeper tissue while sparing the skin's surface. In other words, Ultherapy creates heat at targeted points beneath the skin. It targets the SMAS layer between fat and muscle, which helps support the face. So how is Titanium Lifting different?

A laser is, ultimately, light. Titanium Lifting uses longer wavelengths that penetrate deeper. This distributes heat more evenly from the skin down through deeper layers. This can stimulate collagen production and create a lifting effect. Because it reaches deeper tissue, it can target the retaining ligaments that support the face. Targeting these retaining ligaments is one of its distinguishing features.

And because it uses laser energy, you may also be familiar with the idea of laser toning. Titanium Lifting is known for producing a fast, noticeable effect. But people often say the result does not last very long. That perception can be related to the treatment modes being used. The first is STACK mode, which repeatedly builds energy in deeper tissue. What we're doing now is STACK mode, which builds heat in one area.

Later, we'll use SHR mode, which focuses more on brightening the skin. This one hurts more. It's a little uncomfortable, right? It gets very hot deep inside. STACK mode is more closely associated with the lifting effect. SHR mode focuses more on improving surface firmness and brightening the skin. The balance between STACK and SHR modes is very important.

Now we'll switch handpieces and use SHR mode in this area. It feels a little less uncomfortable, right? This should feel much easier than the previous mode. The immediate effect can look great. The face feels tighter and brighter. But the result may seem less long-lasting. With any lifting device, the longer-term effect begins as new collagen starts to form.

A strong immediate effect does not necessarily mean that the result will last. How effectively STACK mode is delivered is therefore an important factor. Titanium Lifting is well suited to faces that have not sagged severely. It works well when laxity is just beginning. It may also suit people who are sensitive to pain or want quick results. It can also make the complexion look brighter.

So it may suit people who want a fresher appearance. That makes it a popular entry-level lifting treatment. You mentioned that it can affect hair. Is there anything patients need to do before treatment? We tape everything carefully, covering the hairline and eyebrows before we begin. If someone has fine facial hair, couldn't that actually be a benefit of Titanium Lifting?

The downside is that it can be quite uncomfortable for men with facial hair. It can be hard to tolerate. Men can experience more discomfort in those areas. That doesn't mean you need to get laser hair removal just to have Titanium Lifting. But men with thick facial hair may find the treatment more uncomfortable. The newly launched Hyper Titanium refers to a new handpiece.

This is the original Titanium handpiece, while the one being used now is Hyper Titanium. It uses a much larger tip, roughly twice the size. This one is 2 square centimeters, and this one is 4 square centimeters. You may wonder: if only the tip is larger, isn't the energy the same? Energy is delivered per unit area, so the larger tip can deliver more energy. It also allows the laser to reach deeper.

This allows treatment of deeper layers. It enhances the lifting effect compared with the original Titanium handpiece. It was designed to address some limits of the original treatment. There is a downside, though. It hurts. The original Titanium treatment has very little downtime. The discomfort is relatively manageable.

Hyper Titanium can cause some swelling and may involve a little downtime. Keep that in mind if you have an important event coming up. The pain isn't sharp or electric. It comes from the heat. 'It feels hot...' 'Hot?' There is a strong feeling of heat, along with a deep, penetrating sensation. At first, you may think, 'This is manageable.' But the neck, especially the lower part, can be more uncomfortable.

I think that area really hurts. That... that part? Yes. It hurts more under the chin? Yes, that's right. To create a lifting effect, the deeper tissue needs to heat up. So Titanium Lifting can feel quite hot. Hyper Titanium feels even hotter.

The handpiece helps reduce discomfort. Its cooling also lowers the risk of surface burns. When it first touches the skin, it can feel extremely cold. The cooling system keeps the skin's surface cold. The laser heats deeper tissue. That's a key feature of Titanium Lifting. The cooling continues, but as heat builds up, it starts to feel less cold.

After a short pause, it becomes cool again. It feels cooler now, right? It cools down, then heats up again as treatment resumes. That's how the procedure continues. Titanium Lifting often produces a more visible immediate change. First, the face can look brighter and more radiant. Second, the jawline can look noticeably tighter immediately after treatment.

No lifting treatment can make you look like a completely new person. A realistic expectation is a modest improvement, with sagging looking somewhat tighter. A good treatment is not simply the most expensive or the most powerful one. The right lifting treatment depends on your individual skin type and condition. It is best to have a consultation and determine which treatment is right for you.
