Hello.
I am dentist Kim Tae-hyung, who studies each and every patient’s smile.

These days I spend my time carefully looking at and studying only my patients’ teeth...
But in fact, I was originally a student who dreamed of attending art school.
I loved drawing and was completely immersed in design.

A drawing I actually made, haha
Thinking about it now,
it was the purest time of my life...
Then one day, I suddenly realized something. The most beautiful work of art that determines a person’s first impression is the smile.
That realization led me to the path of becoming a dentist.
I wanted to become not just a doctor who fixes teeth, but an artist who designs natural smiles.
In particular, I believed in the inherent beauty of natural teeth.
I wanted to find a way to enhance beauty while preserving the original health of the teeth, rather than shaving them down excessively.
The research that began that way has now reached 10 years...

After performing more than 10,000 laminate veneer procedures, what I found was not just a technique, but a true philosophy of “smile design.”
Today, I’d like to share the criteria for choosing a truly “good” dental clinic, based on the research and experience I have gained over the years.
There are countless dental clinics in Gangnam, but I will sincerely explain how to find one that can take responsibility for your smile.
- Differences in skill
determine the result.

People looking for a dental clinic usually ask questions like:
"Are the reviews good?"
"How much does the procedure cost?"
"How soon can I get it done?"
But in my view, there is another question that matters most:
"How much of the tooth can be preserved?"
Laminate veneers are not simply cosmetic procedures.
They are an important choice that determines the health of your teeth for life.

If I had to compare it to something... it’s like restoring porcelain. Haha.
To preserve the original porcelain as much as possible while delicately restoring only the broken areas is what brings out its true value, right?
Teeth are the same.
At first they may look fine, but teeth that have been shaved down too much often become sensitive over time...
The pain gets worse, and in many cases it eventually leads to root canal treatment.

This is why skilled dental clinics pursue techniques that create a beautiful smile while preserving the original teeth without damage.
For example, in our case...
We make laminate veneers using 0.01 mm ceramic, thinner than a strand of hair.
The amount of tooth reduction has also been reduced to one-fifth to one-tenth of the conventional amount, and depending on the condition, there are cases where no shaving at all is needed.

“Blanche”?>
Of course, handling such thin ceramic is never easy.
If handled even a little improperly, it can break, and the bonding process must be much more delicate.
But I believe this kind of effort is absolutely necessary to protect patients’ healthy teeth.
When you visit a dental clinic, please be sure to check whether it has its own clearly defined technical expertise!
- Differences in the lab system
determine the level of completion.
Gangnam Dental Clinic Recommendation
There is an unseen key player in laminate veneers: the dental technician.
Laminate veneers are not made by the dentist alone.
Just as an architect and an interior designer work together to complete a house, perfect teamwork between the dentist and the technician is needed.

Every patient’s smile may look similar, but in reality they are all different. Even if the angle of a tooth is off by just 1 degree, the impression becomes completely different.
However, most dental clinics outsource the fabrication of laminate veneers to an outside lab. (To reduce costs...^^)
The problem is that outside labs receive work from dozens of dental clinics at the same time...
So it becomes difficult to perfectly reflect the characteristics of each individual patient.

In addition, if revisions are needed, a bigger problem arises.
If the laminate veneer does not fit well and a correction is requested, it has to be sent back to the outside lab... and then you have to wait again until the work there is completed.
As this process repeats, the time gets longer, and the inconvenience falls entirely on the patient.
To solve this problem, the most ideal setup is to have a dedicated in-house lab within the dental clinic.
We also have a lab right next to the clinic, where we manage every step directly. ^^

An exhausting(?) effort to return even better results...
Experienced technicians can look directly at the patient’s teeth and create customized restorations, and if revisions are needed, they can respond immediately.
Of course, setting up a system like this is not easy.
Hiring highly skilled technicians and equipping good machinery is not cheap...
But if patients can smile confidently without discomfort?
I think that is enough.
When you visit a dental clinic, please also check whether it understands the importance of the lab process and is willing to think about how to achieve better results!
As I said today, the true value of laminate veneers comes from skill and system.
Delicate techniques that preserve as much of the tooth as possible while creating a beautiful smile...
And a lab system that can bring that vision to life are both necessary for it to be possible.
I hope this article helped you gain some insight...
Thank you for reading this long post!
Smile More, Live Better!
