안녕하세요.
I’m dentist Kim Taehyung, and I always want to give my patients beautiful smiles. (^^)

Outside my clinic window, along Gangnam-daero, there are countless dental clinics. You can see several just by walking one block.
That’s probably why people around me ask this question the most.
"There are so many clinics in Gangnam that do laminates...
How should I choose one?"
Since most of the people who ask are close acquaintances, I joke, "What’s there to choose? Of course you should come to our clinic~" ...
But in fact, when I first started doing laminates 10 years ago, I had a similar concern.
I spent day and night researching with one thought in mind:
"How can I provide better treatment for my patients?"
That concern led to more than 10,000 laminate procedures, and through that process, I realized something.
The criteria for choosing a good laminate dental clinic are simpler than you might think.

Today, I’d like to tell you how to find a truly skilled clinic, based on what I discovered through 10 years of clinical experience.
Please focus for just 3 minutes!
You should look at the "difference in technique."

There are three common concerns patients have when considering laminates.
"How much will it cost?"
"Are the reviews good?"
"Is it a famous place?"
These are all understandable concerns. Even if I were getting laminates myself, these are things I’d probably think about at least once. ^^
However, what you should be worrying about first is this:
"What technique
will they use for the laminate?"
Laminate is a treatment you may only receive once in your lifetime. That’s why you need to choose carefully.
In particular, it is very important to know the differences in treatment methods.
A typical laminate involves shaving off about 0.5 to 1.0 mm of the tooth, which is like losing 60–70% of the tooth’s protective layer.
(Imagine losing more than half of a healthy tooth forever...)
The problem comes after that.
At first, it may seem fine, but over time, side effects begin to appear one by one.

Even a winter breeze makes it feel sensitive, and even the bristles of a toothbrush can cause sharp pain...
In the end, some people even end up needing root canal treatment.
I also thought long and hard about how to solve these problems.
And that led to the development of "Blanche"!
(* Blanche? Blancche Dental Clinic’s
proprietary no-prep laminate technique)
It is a laminate made with an ultra-thin ceramic layer of 0.01 mm, thinner than a strand of hair.
A photo compared with xylitol gum...
It’s really small and thin, right? haha
It requires no removal of the tooth at all, or if any removal is needed, only about one-fifth to one-tenth of the amount used in conventional methods.
<No-prep laminate,
If you want to know more about Blanche>
Of course, it is more difficult than ordinary laminates...
That’s because the laminate itself must be much more precise, and attaching it so that it fits each patient’s teeth perfectly requires that level of skill.
But I believe that this kind of effort is absolutely necessary to protect patients’ healthy teeth.

Of course, there are many different no-prep laminate methods, and our Blanche is not the only answer.
Still, I hope you will definitely check whether the clinic you visit has reliable laminate techniques!
The difference in "customized treatment"
determines the result.

Many dental clinics offer laminate treatments with the slogan of "beautiful teeth."
Since laminate is something people receive for a beautiful smile, I also agree that aesthetically pleasing teeth are important...
However, I think it is more important to create teeth that suit you, rather than simply making them pretty.
In fact, many people who get laminates have concerns like the following.
"My teeth came out too white,
and they look unnatural."
"The color is too different from my other teeth;;"
"When I smile, it doesn’t seem to match
the shape of my lips. ㅠㅠ"
The reason these situations happen is simple.
It’s because treatment was done according to a standardized criterion without fully considering the patient’s face shape, skin tone, lip line, and other factors.
For example, even if the laminate is the same A2 shade...
The teeth can look completely different on someone with a warm skin tone and someone with a cool skin tone.
In addition, depending on the lip line and smile line, the length and shape of the teeth need to change to look natural.

That’s why, in my case, I spend a great deal of time on the design process before making laminates..
(Among my fellow directors, there is also someone who holds a personal color certification, so we cooperate together haha)
I even set up our own in-house lab right next to the clinic!
This is a system built to immediately adjust to the most natural color and shape for each patient.
If revisions are needed, they can be adjusted right away, allowing us to work carefully until we get a result that fits the patient perfectly. ^^

Of course, a customized approach is not easy.
It takes a lot of time because we need enough consultation with each patient and multiple rounds of simulation...
But I believe this process is absolutely necessary to create a truly natural and beautiful smile.
"Customized treatment"
It may sound clichéd...
But since it is such an important condition, please make sure to check whether the clinic you plan to visit invests a lot of time in you!
As I was writing, the article became a bit long.
Still, I think if you remember just the two conditions I mentioned today, you will be able to find a good laminate dental clinic.
I hope this was helpful...
Thank you for reading this long post! haha
