Hello.
I’m Dentist Kim Tae-hyung, and I’ve given beautiful smiles to many people through more than 10,000 laminate treatments.

There’s a question I get very often in the clinic.
"Director. The laminate price
varies so much from clinic to clinic...
How should I choose?"
"There are many places with low prices.
Is there a difference?"
I completely understand why these questions come up.
Just by opening one social media app on my phone, I’m bombarded with price ads.
'Three-day sale', 'discount', 'event'...
I understand the feeling of comparing prices, especially since it can be a financial burden for patients...
But honestly, what I feel most is regret.

These are teeth you’ll have for life...
Can you really decide
based on price alone?
(My honest inner thought...)
After researching laminates for 10 years, I’ve realized something.
The truly important thing is not the price.
Today, I want to share the two criteria you really need to look at when choosing laminates, based on what I’ve directly seen and experienced in the field.
Please focus for 2 minutes!
A difference in technology that preserves teeth?

The first key point is 'technical skill.'
Simply put, a laminate is a procedure that attaches a thin piece of porcelain on top of the tooth.
At first glance, that sounds simple, right?
But the most important factor that determines the cost is how much of the tooth can be preserved in the process.

A typical laminate procedure reduces the tooth by about 0.5 to 1.0 mm.
It may look thin on the outside... but that means losing 60 to 70% of the tooth’s protective layer.
The reason so much is removed is simple.
The more tooth that is shaved down, the easier it is to make and attach the laminate.
But this means exchanging your dental health for convenience...
(And that convenience is entirely for the doctor’s benefit. ^^;)
If a lot of natural tooth structure is removed?
Even the slightest breeze can make your teeth feel sensitive, and you may have to brush very carefully for the rest of your life.
In fact, while thinking hard about how to solve this problem, we developed 'Blanche.'

It’s a laminate made with 0.01 mm ceramic, thinner than a strand of hair...
So there’s no need to shave the tooth at all, or if any reduction is needed, it’s only about one-tenth of the conventional method.

Of course, to place a laminate that fits precisely while minimizing tooth reduction, advanced skill is required.
That also means more time and cost.
But if it can protect your healthy teeth for life, I believe that kind of investment is absolutely necessary.
You do not necessarily need to come to Blanche Dental Clinic.
But wherever you go, I hope you’ll definitely check what level of skill that clinic has!
A system as important as skill?

Some clinics choose a method to lower prices: they outsource laminate production in bulk to an external lab.
If they receive orders from multiple clinics at once and produce them in mass, costs can be greatly reduced.
(*This is only saying 'there are places like this'... of course, being inexpensive does not automatically mean that.!)
However, this method has a critical problem.
It becomes difficult to create a fully customized laminate that considers each patient’s different tooth shape, color, and size.

Also, when corrections are needed, it has to be sent back to the outside lab and you have to wait again until it is completed.
In particular, the less a laminate reduces the tooth (= no-prep laminate), the more precise the fabrication process needs to be...
So if it’s entrusted to an outside lab, there will inevitably be limits in terms of quality, right? ^^;
That’s why, in our case, we have an in-house lab dedicated only to Blanche patients.

Technicians with more than 10 years of experience create custom restorations while looking directly at the patient’s teeth, and if needed, immediate adjustments are possible.
Of course, it takes a lot of cost and effort to build a system like this...
But since it’s a choice made to give patients better results, I have no regrets!
When you visit a dental clinic, please make sure to check what kind of system it uses to make laminates!
The price of a laminate is not just a simple number.
Hidden within it are differences in the skill that preserves your teeth and the system that creates the final result.
I hope you keep this in mind and find a good clinicㅎㅎ
Thank you for reading this long post!
Smile More, Live Better!
Sincerely,
Kim Tae-hyung, Chief Director
