Hello.
I’m dentist Kim Tae-hyung, designing healthy smiles for you.

Lately, I feel like I’ve been seeing these unfortunate cases more and more often...
Because more and more people are losing healthy teeth while trying to achieve a pretty smile.
"My teeth are so sensitive I can’t even chew food ㅠㅠ"
"After getting laminates,
my life actually became more uncomfortable..."
Some patients’ complaints
In particular, there are so many side effect cases caused by excessive tooth reduction during the laminate procedure...
Seeing those cases, I can’t help but feel a great sense of responsibility as a dentist.

Over the past 10 years of researching laminates, I’ve come to one certainty.
A truly beautiful smile starts with the health of your natural teeth.
That belief has only grown stronger as I’ve performed more than 10,000 procedures.
Today, based on my clinical experience and research so far, I’d like to honestly talk about:
- The truth about tooth reduction for laminates
- How to avoid side effects
Please focus for just 3 minutes!
The uncomfortable truth about tooth reduction
Laminates and side effects from tooth reduction
There is a moment that is especially heartbreaking for me as a dentist.
That is when patients come in for laminate re-treatment.
"My teeth keep feeling sensitive and hurting."
"It feels like my gums are gradually receding."
Many people say this with worried expressions.
In most cases, the problem begins with excessive tooth reduction.

A typical laminate procedure assumes that about 0.5 to 1.0 mm of the tooth will be shaved down.
Numerically, that may not sound like much... but it means losing most of the enamel, the tooth’s natural protective barrier.
It’s a bit like stripping the bark off a tree, isn’t it?
It may look fine on the outside, but as time passes, problems begin to develop from within. ^^;
Sensitivity, pain, weakened gums, and more...
There are far too many problems.
What’s even more serious is that these issues can develop into irreversible situations over time.
In the end, root canal treatment may even become necessary...
Then the irony is that in trying to achieve a more beautiful smile with laminates, you end up losing healthy teeth instead.
A new standard for protecting natural teeth
Laminates and side effects from tooth reduction
This is what I believe.
The true meaning of laminates should not be sacrificing teeth...
but creating a beautiful smile while preserving your teeth as they are.

The answer I found in the end is ‘Blanche.’
It involves making and attaching laminates using ceramic that is 0.01 mm thick—five times thinner than a hair.
Compared to conventional laminates, tooth reduction can be reduced to one-fifth to one-tenth...
and in many cases, no tooth reduction is needed at all.
<If you want to learn more about no-prep laminates, ‘Blanche’>
Of course, this is by no means easy.
If handled just a little wrong, it can crack, and even a tiny difference in angle can produce a completely different result.
So, not only did I develop Blanche, but I also built a lab right next to the clinic... haha

In fact, from a management perspective, having an in-house lab is a highly inefficient choice.
That’s because using an outside lab reduces costs and makes management much easier.
But there is only one reason I chose “inefficiency.”
To create the “perfect smile.”

The difference between skilled technicians directly examining and designing with the patient’s teeth in front of them, versus simply working from a tooth impression, is night and day.
The subtle color tone, the delicate angles, the way light passes through...
To perfectly recreate all of these, a dedicated lab was essential.
To be honest...
"If we just did things the way everyone else does,
we could reduce costs
and manage things more easily..."
"Why make it so complicated?"
There were people around me who asked that, and to some extent I understand what they mean. ^^;
But I believe true laminates are impossible without this kind of effort...
and if it’s to protect patients’ healthy teeth and create natural-looking smiles, I think this much effort is absolutely worth it.

If you’re afraid of side effects from tooth reduction, be sure to check:
“What efforts does this clinic make to protect natural teeth?”
Teeth are precious assets you must use for a lifetime.
Once a tooth has been shaved down, it cannot be restored, and the side effects that result become greater over time.
Rather than rushing based only on the immediate change... I hope you first check how much of the tooth can be preserved.
I hope everyone can enjoy happier days with a healthy and beautiful smile!
Thank you for reading this long post.
Smile More, Live Better!
With sincere wishes that you shine even brighter,
