The answer is no.
It is not necessary.
Temporary Veneers
Hello.
I am dentist Kim Taehyung, who studies patients’ smiles every day.

"Director, just thinking about wearing a temporary tooth
and going to work makes me so worried.
What if it falls out?"
In fact, many people have these concerns.
While wearing a temporary tooth, how should you eat? Will it be uncomfortable in daily life? What should you do when you have a meeting or an important appointment?
I fully understand how people who worry about these things feel.
Even 10 years ago, when I first started performing veneer treatments, this was my biggest concern.
How can I solve the inconvenience caused by temporary teeth? Is it really necessary to go through this process?
I spent many nights researching with these questions in mind.

After performing more than 10,000 procedures, I realized something.
To put it simply, in veneer treatment, temporary teeth are a "choice," not a "must."
In fact, there is a way to create a healthier and more beautiful smile without temporary teeth.
Today, I’d like to talk about the truth I discovered through 10 years of clinical experience, and how to create a perfect smile without temporary teeth.
I hope this article will be helpful to those considering veneers.
- Temporary teeth? You don’t have to do them.
Temporary Veneers
Many dental clinics take temporary tooth placement for granted during veneer procedures.

They say that after reducing the teeth by about 0.5 to 1.0 mm, you need to wear temporary teeth for at least 1 to 2 weeks until the final treatment is completed.
But after performing veneer treatments all this time, I discovered an... uncomfortable truth.
Temporary teeth are ultimately an "inevitable choice" that comes from a treatment method that removes too much of the tooth.
Why is that?

Typical veneer treatment assumes that a significant amount of the outer surface of the tooth will be reduced.
As a result, the tooth becomes exposed to the outside, causing sensitivity and also making it look less attractive. So temporary teeth must be placed.
The problem is the inconvenience while wearing temporary teeth.
It becomes difficult to chew food properly, and because temporary teeth can come off easily, you always have to be careful.
Food can even get caught between the teeth easily, and there is also a risk of gum inflammation.

"Director, I have an important meeting—what if the temporary tooth falls out?"
"How am I supposed to eat?"
"Will it be uncomfortable when I speak?"
Every time I heard these worried voices from patients, I felt heavy-hearted.
So after a long period of research, I developed the no-prep veneer "Blanche."
We make veneers with ultra-thin ceramic that is 0.01 mm thick.
The procedure can be performed with almost no tooth reduction (one-fifth to one-tenth of conventional veneers), or even with no reduction at all.
Because the teeth are not reduced, and the procedure can even be done in one day, temporary teeth are of course not needed.

Of course, our method is not the only answer...
- Are you trying to protect the natural tooth?
- Is same-day treatment possible?
These two factors are clearly the basic conditions for creating a comfortable veneer treatment without temporary teeth.
Please keep this in mind when choosing a dental clinic.
- How can you get natural-looking veneers without temporary teeth?
Temporary Veneers
In fact, the fact that temporary teeth are unnecessary is only the beginning. The more important thing is the result of the treatment.
Not reducing the tooth means... carrying out the veneer treatment while preserving the enamel (= the protective layer that protects our teeth).

However, for this kind of treatment to be possible, a high level of technical skill is unavoidable.
Because the teeth are not reduced much, small ceramic restorations are needed...
These ceramics are difficult to make strong, and above all, the task of bonding them firmly so they do not come off the patient’s teeth is extremely difficult...
Even when developing Blanche, I spent a very long time thinking about how to solve this problem. Haha
What I came up with was operating a specialized dental lab right next to the clinic.

Experienced dental technicians with 10 years of experience personally check each patient’s tooth condition and work to create the most natural result possible.
(Because an outside lab has to handle requests from multiple dental clinics, it would be difficult to focus on the details I want, so this was the best option. ^^;)
To be honest, it costs more and takes more time...
But I believe that only this kind of process makes true no-prep veneers possible.
<If you want to learn more about no-prep veneers, "Blanche">
Many people decide on veneer treatment while accepting temporary tooth wear as an unavoidable part of the process.
They think, "Even if it’s a little inconvenient, I should endure it for beautiful teeth."
But as I said today, it is now possible to have a beautiful smile without that inconvenience.
I sincerely hope that those reading this article will not hesitate because of the discomfort of temporary teeth or the fear of tooth reduction.
Thank you for reading to the end!
Hoping that you will shine brightly,
