No-Prep Veneers

These days, among the people who come to the clinic...
I almost never hear anyone say,
"I don’t want my teeth shaved down."
Because of that, the term “no-prep veneers” has already become familiar...
And at some point, there even seems to be a feeling that no-prep should be the default, right?
(I’ll say this again later... no-prep veneers are not a procedure that is automatically easy or suitable for everyone.^^;)
But...
As there are people who take no-prep veneers for granted,
I also think there are still many people who worry about side effects.
Today, I’d like to write about the things I want people who are thinking about “no-prep veneers” themselves
To be sure to read.

- No-prep veneers
Are not possible for just anyone.

Of course, I also really love the no-prep veneer procedure.
In fact, many of the people who come to us for treatment...
Already have the conditions needed to create a satisfying result without removing any tooth structure.
But there are also people who need a more cautious approach.
If the teeth protrude a lot,
If the alignment is uneven,
Or if there is a habit of teeth grinding or clenching,
Then in terms of adhesion and design
More delicate adjustments are needed.
That does not mean no-prep is impossible at all.
Rather, I think cases like these make it even more important how precisely no-prep veneers are designed and implemented.
Just not shaving the teeth does not mean it is truly no-prep...
A truly no-prep result is one that looks beautiful without shaving. haha
So I treat no-prep veneers as a basic direction in my practice...
And I try to approach everything very carefully, from the design to the materials and color selection.
In a way, since there is no reduction...
It also means the aesthetics and technique need to be even better. haha

- Side effects of no-prep veneers?
Thorough diagnosis and delicate procedure are key.

Some people also come to us because they are worried about side effects from no-prep veneers.
There are cases where they experienced a variety of symptoms, such as sensitivity, lifting, gum inflammation, or discoloration.
Rather than simply saying bad luck caused the side effects...
The diagnosis may not have been accurate,
The bonding position may have been off,
Or the lab work may not have been made to fit the tooth shape perfectly...
In the end, I think side effects are created by the small misalignments that build up during the process.
And feeling discomfort compared with before
Can also be considered a veneer side effect.
To be honest...
This can happen more often with no-prep veneers.
Because the teeth are not altered,
Even a small mismatch is noticeable, and you feel discomfort in the mouth right away... ㅜㅜ
Because of this, the point I always emphasize is...
No-prep is not an easy procedure; rather, it is a more difficult one.
Instead of shaving less, it has to be bonded much more precisely,
And color, thickness, and position all have to be carefully considered. haha
No-prep veneers may look like something anyone can do...
But in actual practice, even small differences can change the entire result.
In the end, what patients should look at is not whether it is “no-prep”..
Isn’t it how delicately the no-prep approach is carried out?^^

No-prep veneers are truly an attractive procedure.
They can reduce the burden on the teeth while still creating a natural and brighter impression.
But for a procedure like that, the fact that it needs to be approached more carefully...
May be a point only someone like me, who genuinely loves this treatment and has done it for a long time, can feel.
So the last thing I want to say is this.
It is basic for the shape of the teeth to be beautiful...
They also need to harmonize with your face
For it to be a truly successful veneer result.
So that no-prep veneers are accepted not just as a trend, but as a truly well-designed procedure..
Today, too, I will keep studying teeth closely,
And focus on the tips of my fingers.^^
