If You’re Worried About Side Effects
무삭제라미네이트

“Don’t laminates come off easily
or break?”
This is one of the questions I receive very often
in Instagram DMs and consultations. Haha.
Especially for those considering no-prep laminates..
Since the method involves attaching a thin ceramic piece with almost no tooth reduction,
it’s natural to wonder,
“Wouldn’t the bond be weak?”
“Wouldn’t the veneer itself be too thin and break?”
In reality, if the bonding strength or the veneer’s strength is insufficient, problems such as chipping or detachment can occur..
That’s why many people look up information about no-prep laminate side effects.
So today, I’ll talk about how we approach this..
and how problems like breakage and detachment can be reduced, focusing on the Blanche approach. Haha.

- Why do no-prep laminates break?
Among the possible side effects of no-prep laminates,
the one people worry about most is “breakage.”
What kind of force is transmitted to the teeth,
what material it is made of,
and what habits you have in daily life...
All of these factors affect the result of “breakage.”
Let me give you an example.
If you like hard foods but your bite is misaligned, or you have a habit of grinding your teeth while sleeping?
A crack can form more easily than you might expect.
Also, if the design is made in a way that does not fit the tooth structure well from the start..
it will be attached in a weak shape to the area that receives the most force, so even a small impact can cause it to break.

And surprisingly, there are many cases where the material itself is not very strong.
Even if it looks like sturdy ceramic at first glance..
materials with poor durability cannot withstand impact for long.
After seeing and studying many such cases in practice,
I developed my own standards.
Those are the standards for design, materials, and bonding in order to reduce the side effects of no-prep laminates. Haha.
- What are the Blanche standards for no-prep laminates?
In previous posts, I explained the design process and the fabrication method for laminates in detail.
So today, I’d like to talk a little more about the “material.”
The reason is that side effects of no-prep laminates, such as breakage or detachment..
depend on what material is used and how it is handled.

At Blanche, we use feldspathic ceramic from Switzerland as the veneer material.
This material is stronger than glass while still having the natural translucency of natural teeth..
It is resistant to discoloration,
and its durability means it is less likely to break even with long-term use.
That’s why it is especially suitable for those who want a laminate that is both beautiful and durable. Haha.
And...
Honestly, I’m a little hesitant to say this(?),
but “what matters just as much as the material is the adhesive and the bonding method.”
No matter how good the ceramic is, if the adhesive is weak..
or if the bonding method is not properly understood, problems like breakage or detachment are inevitable.

For this reason, we use a premium adhesive that has received awards in the U.S. dental field.
Although this adhesive is extremely thin, it has very high strength, so it withstands the chewing pressure and stress of daily life well.
Because its physical properties are very stable,
its retention remains strong over a long period even after bonding.
Like this, we do not use just any ceramic or adhesive.
Even when attaching a small, thin veneer..
each choice and standard is aimed at minimizing the possibility of side effects of no-prep laminates, such as breakage and detachment. ^^

The issue of “breakage,” which is the most concerning side effect of no-prep laminates..
ultimately comes down to the material, the bonding, and the clinician’s results.
Even a laminate that looks beautiful on the surface can show differences over time depending on what it is made of and how it is bonded.
That is why, at Blanche, we complete no-prep laminates using materials that can protect the teeth
for a long time..
and a method that takes stable retention into account.

This entire process is not a simple procedure that ends once the veneer is attached..
it is a method that also takes into account each person’s tooth condition and lifestyle habits.
Even when attaching a small, thin veneer..
it must be supported by a great deal of thought and clear standards in order to remain natural and healthy for a long time.
I hope today’s post helped ease some of your concerns about no-prep laminates.

Thank you. Haha.
