Hello.
I am Kim Tae-hyung, the chief director of Blanch Dental Clinic.
"I got no-prep laminate veneers, but they still shaved down my teeth.."
"Are they really no-prep?"
I have been getting a lot of questions like these lately.
As more people become interested in laminate veneers, curiosity about no-prep options has also been increasing.
Speaking honestly as a dentist..
No-prep laminate veneers are definitely possible.
But they are not applicable in every case.
Let me explain this clearly.

- No-prep laminate veneers?
Is it really possible?
To put it simply, yes, it is possible.
Technology and materials have advanced a great deal these days.
In the past, a lot of tooth reduction was necessary to place laminate veneers.
That was to prevent them from looking too thick or unnatural.
But now, it is possible to make ceramics as thin as 0.1 mm, even thinner than paper.
Despite being this thin, they can still reflect light like natural teeth and remain strong.

On top of that, with 3D digital analysis, it has become possible to accurately measure tooth position and angle.
With these technologies combined, it has become possible to create natural-looking veneers without shaving down the teeth.
Of course, not every dental clinic has all of these technologies.^^;
That is why choosing the right clinic for no-prep laminate veneers is so important.

- No-prep does not automatically mean better
I also mainly do no-prep laminate veneers..
But I do not think no-prep is the answer in every case.^^;
Think about a case where the front teeth are unusually large or protruding.
If you simply attach veneers in that situation, they may end up looking even more prominent.
That means the original concern is not resolved at all.

The same applies when teeth are overlapping or significantly misaligned.
In those cases, a minimal amount of reduction may be necessary.
The key is that it must be truly minimal.
If thin, it is adjusted by about 0.1 mm, roughly the thickness of a strand of hair.
This allows the overall balance to be corrected while causing almost no damage to the enamel, the surface of the tooth.
At that point, most patients do not even know which part was shaved down after the procedure.
That is how subtle the adjustment is.

<If you want to know more about no-prep laminate veneers and "Blanch"?>
Today, I explained no-prep laminate veneers.
Are the results of no-prep laminate veneers the same everywhere?
Of course not.^^;
Just as the same filler used in dermatology can produce different results depending on the doctor's skill..
The same is true for laminate veneers.
Even if you can become more beautiful without shaving down a single tooth, the result should still be,
natural and suited to your face.

Even when the same materials are used, if experience and aesthetic sense differ?
The result can be completely different.
I also continue to make efforts to create beautiful smiles while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.
If I can also rely on equipment such as digital analysis systems for the aesthetic aspects, I believe even better results are possible.

If you have concerns about your teeth, feel free to come in for a consultation.
