Hello.
We are Blanche Dental Clinic, where your smile becomes a work of art.
Many people consider laminate veneers to achieve white, even teeth like celebrities.
However, concerns such as, “What if they shave down too much of my teeth and I end up suffering later?” often come along with that. Today, we’ll organize the causes of side effects that you must know before laminate treatment, along with safe selection criteria.

The questions patients ask most often during consultations are “tooth sensitivity” and “fracture (chipping).”
It’s a treatment chosen to look better, but if you end up feeling discomfort every time you eat,
that stress is beyond words.
To ease the anxiety patients feel, let’s look at the real reasons side effects occur.

In the past, there were cases where a lot of tooth structure was shaved down to create a straight shape.
However, if too much of the outermost layer of the tooth, the enamel, is removed,
the nerve can be exposed, causing sensitivity and reducing bonding strength.
With recent advances in technology, treatment now minimizes side effects by shaving very little tooth structure, or almost none at all.

Laminate veneers are strongest when bonded to the tooth’s outer surface, the enamel.
If you get greedy and increase the amount removed, the inner dentin becomes exposed,
and from that point, sensitivity begins and the risk of debonding also increases.
In other words, the key to safe laminate veneers is not “how beautifully the teeth are shaved,” but
“how healthily they are preserved.”

Blanche Dental Clinic does not simply pursue results that look good.
We carefully analyze each patient’s tooth shape and create a treatment plan that maximizes enamel preservation.
We ask, “Isn’t there a way to make the teeth beautiful enough without shaving them?”
and replace worries about side effects with trust through honest treatment that trims only as much as each patient truly needs.

For a few days immediately after treatment, teeth may temporarily become more sensitive, but if the sensitivity does not improve over time,
there may have been too much removal or a problem during the bonding process.
Rather than enduring the pain and leaving it untreated, visiting the clinic quickly to check the nerve condition and receive appropriate care is
the way to prevent more extensive treatment later.

If there is bad breath or frequent bleeding in the area with laminate veneers,
it may be a sign that the prosthetic has reached the end of its life or that a gap has formed.
If decay develops in that gap, it may not be visible from the outside and can be discovered late.
Regular checkups to carefully inspect the condition of the prosthetic help protect your valuable natural teeth.

When used properly, laminate veneers can be an excellent way to overcome complexes, but excessive desire can be harmful.
