What is thread lifting? Thread lifting is, as the name suggests, a procedure that uses lifting threads to pull skin tissue, with the purpose of improving wrinkles and tightening sagging facial contours. And lifting threads

are absorbed by the body

over time.

Studying the types of thread lifting

There are four major types.

Lifting thread

It has protruding barbs. So it forms three-dimensional barbs in all directions. When this is inserted into the skin,

it can strongly pull and fix the skin tissue

in all directions.

HiCO

This is a procedure that inserts dissolvable threads into the nose

for the purpose of improving and beautifully defining

the bridge, tip, and line of the nose.

Through this, it improves the length of the nasal tip

and the angle of the nose.

It has the effect of transforming a blunt nose bridge

into a sharper one,

or raising a low nose

for a more defined, higher look.

What are volume threads?

Volume threads include Jambor threads and Caven threads, which are well known. They have a very thin spring-like shape,

and are often used for the purpose of filling in sunken areas with volume.

Areas where the effect appears strongly include:

Under the eyes

Indian lines

Nasolabial folds

Side cheek line

and more.

Monothread

A monothread is, quite literally,

a thin, small thread. Its thickness is almost at the level of a hair.

Because it is thin, it can be performed naturally,

and rather than a lifting effect,

it is a type of thread lifting that has a major effect on collagen production

and skin elasticity.

Common treatment areas include

the forehead,

nasolabial folds,

lower cheeks, and more—

areas that can appear hollow

because collagen has decreased significantly.

However, these days,

there are excellent collagen-inducing injections available,

for example, collagen skin boosters

(Sculptra, Juvelook, Radiesse),

so in most clinics,

if the goal is collagen production,

they tend to choose those skin boosters

rather than monothreads.

Thread lifting Jambor threads

Ingredients used in thread lifting?

PCL: polycaprolactone. The threads are very soft and produce a natural effect. A major advantage is that there is less discomfort such as pain or a foreign-body sensation. The drawback is that shaping them is relatively difficult.

PDO: polydioxanone. The most commonly used material. A material that can pull strongly,

and is also used as a surgical suture.

It stimulates collagen production,

and is highly effective in removing wrinkles

and improving skin elasticity. For nose thread lifting,

PDO material is suitable.

PLLA: poly-L lactic acid. The same ingredient as Sculptra. After a certain period of time, it is absorbed by the body,

and it promotes collagen production,

offering the benefit of natural volume and lifting. A slight foreign-body sensation is the drawback.

So... are threads inserted into the face? Isn’t that dangerous?

Yes, it is safe. Most of them are dissolvable threads. Dissolvable threads are materials that gradually break down,

are absorbed in the body,

and disappear over time. Depending on the material, collagen formation can also be expected in the area where the thread dissolves,

making it possible to maintain volume.

Thread lifting duration

Lifting threads typically last about 1.5 to 2 years.

HiCO threads can last from six months to over one year.

Volume threads can also last from six months to over one year.

The duration varies slightly from person to person.

Precautions for thread lifting

Still, because it is a “thread,”

there may be some foreign-body sensation. However, this discomfort may occur only in the early period right after the procedure,

and after about a month,

it naturally settles in.

For example,

right after lifting thread treatment,

you may feel a pulling sensation when opening your mouth wide

or smiling broadly.

If significant stimulation is applied to the insertion point (the opening where the thread entered),

there is a risk that the thread may protrude,

but clinically this is a rare case. If you feel that the thread is visible or has come out,

please do not touch it by hand under any circumstances,

and visit the clinic immediately

so that it can be handled safely.

Thread lifting bruising, thread lifting swelling

Thread lifting can cause swelling or bruising

more than laser or injection procedures.

In about a week,

most swelling or bruising will naturally subside,

so unless there is severe swelling right after the procedure,

there is improvement over time.
