Many of the people who come to consult with me have previously undergone cheekbone reduction surgery or square jaw surgery at another clinic, but they come for revision surgery because of unsatisfactory results or concerns about the surgical area.
Revision surgery for cheekbones can vary greatly depending on the previous surgical method, as the condition of the cheekbones (the location of the osteotomy site and whether there is union) can differ widely. Depending on the condition, the difficulty of the surgery and the results that can be expected after surgery may vary significantly.
The case below shows a situation in which only the cheekbone body was resected and fixed, but the posterior osteotomy of the cheekbone arch was not performed, so there was no reduction effect on the side cheekbone at all, and only nonunion occurred at the cheekbone osteotomy site. These are the CT scans before and after revision surgery.
