Many of the people who come to see me for consultations have previously undergone cheekbone reduction surgery or square jaw surgery elsewhere, but they come to discuss revision surgery because of unsatisfactory results or concerns about the surgical area.
Revision cheekbone surgery varies greatly depending on the previous surgical method and the condition of the cheekbones (the location of the osteotomy site and whether union has occurred), and the difficulty of the surgery and the results that can be expected after surgery can differ significantly depending on the condition.
The case below is a pre- and post-revision CT scan of a case in which only the body of the cheekbone was osteotomized and not fixed, without performing a posterior osteotomy of the cheekbone arch, resulting in no side cheekbone reduction effect at all and only a partial gap at the cheekbone osteotomy site.
