A couple of months ago,
Someone who had undergone contouring triple surgery a long time ago and had not returned after the one-week postoperative follow-up came to the clinic with a very dissatisfied expression, intending to confront me.
Since this person had come from overseas for surgery, I tried to understand that they may not have been in a position to come back for follow-up.
Even so,
not only was it already unusual that they were coming back to complain after 8 years, but communication was not being accurately conveyed properly, so from my perspective, I was somewhat flustered and embarrassed.
Since they came after 8 years with complaints about changes in appearance after surgery, I took follow-up photos and CT scans and then performed a case analysis. As the conversation and communication went well and the misunderstanding was completely resolved, and since they also gave sufficient consent to the use of their photos for promotional and academic purposes, I am sharing this case.
- Preoperative facial appearance and surgical plan
At the time of the visit, she was 23 years old and had a wide face with a short chin.

Accordingly,
I recommended zygomatic reduction surgery, including posterior cheekbone and lateral cheekbone reduction, to reduce the width of the midface,
and for improvement of the lower face contour, I recommended angle reduction surgery and chin lengthening.
To summarize, this was contouring triple surgery: cheekbone reduction, square jaw surgery, and chin surgery.
After obtaining consent, the surgery was performed. There were no special issues during the postoperative treatment process, and she returned to her home country one week after surgery.
- Follow-up photos 8 years after surgery and comparison with preoperative photos
She was 23 at the time of surgery, and 8 years later she had become 31.
I organized and compared the preoperative photos and the recent photos taken 8 years later at the same ratio without image distortion.

- Discussion
The actual changes in appearance after contouring surgery can vary greatly from person to person depending on the condition of the soft tissue covering the facial bones,
but honestly, in my opinion, the case introduced above is one that, in terms of appearance changes before and after surgery, is sufficiently meaningful and deserving of a positive evaluation.
In addition, regarding the cheek sagging (skin sagging) after contouring surgery that many people worry about, I hope you will look at the photos and make your own judgments.
As for why the person introduced above came to me after 8 years in such a dissatisfied state (their main complaint was that the cheekbones had not reduced at all, and they argued that perhaps the surgery had not been performed), I will explain in detail in a separate post later.
