Protruding ears are not considered bad from a physiognomic standpoint, but
if the ears stand out too much from the face, there is a risk that they may be perceived as somewhat comical in appearance.
In cases of severe protruding ears, satisfactory results can be expected through the following surgery.
The surgery time required to correct protruding ears is about 1 hour, and the surgical cost is about 1 million won per ear.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or sedation anesthesia, and the recovery period after surgery takes about 7 to 10 days.
First, the cause of protruding ears can be found in the shape of the ear cartilage that forms the structure of the ear.
Therefore, the most important point in correcting protruding ears is to change the shape of the ear cartilage into an appropriate form.

As shown in the figure above,
when a typical ear shape is viewed from above toward the floor,
the ear cartilage is bent at an appropriate angle,
but when protruding ears are prominent, the cartilage has a flattened shape.

Therefore, in order to surgically correct protruding ears, it is fundamentally necessary to bind the flattened cartilage.

When the ear is viewed from the back,
through a skin incision behind the ear, the cartilage is properly bent,
and then fixed with sutures, which is the most important point of protruding ear surgery.
