In facial contours, the contours of the facial bones are important, but the condition of the soft tissues covering the facial bones (muscles, fat, skin, etc.) is also important.
Various methods for changing the condition of the soft tissues in the face are being used to alter facial contour.
Examples include Botox procedures that reduce the volume of the chewing muscles, which make the angular areas of the face stand out more, and methods that reduce a chubby face by suctioning subcutaneous fat from the face. To make the fuller contours of the cheeks slimmer, deep buccal fat removal can be considered.
Deep buccal fat removal can generally be performed safely and effectively through an incision inside the mouth (5–10 mm).
The procedure takes about 10 minutes, and it is recommended to check the removed cheek fat after surgery.

The photos above show the actual deep buccal fat removed during surgery, and I think the final step of the procedure is to confirm that the surgery was performed accurately and effectively by checking the amount and shape of the patient’s own cheek fat that was removed after surgery.
In general, the amount of cheek fat removed in deep buccal fat removal surgery may vary from person to person, but it is best understood as removing about 4–5 cc of cheek fat per side, taken out as a pouch.
