What gives us an impression of a person at first glance is their outward appearance.
Since we cannot know their inner qualities from the very first meeting,
we end up guessing various things such as personality and age based on appearance.
Among these, when it comes to age,
everyone naturally wants to look younger than their actual age,
so many people look into ways to achieve a youthful appearance
by improving hollow eyelids and changing their eye shape to look more youthful.

So, what exactly causes the upper eyelid to become sunken?
First, as mentioned earlier, it is due to aging.
As we get older, the skin sags and the fat layer decreases,
and because the subcutaneous fat around the eyes, where the skin is thinnest on the face, becomes reduced.
In addition, even at a relatively young age, reasons for sunken eyelids include
excessive dieting, bad habits such as rubbing the eyes, and similar behaviors.
As mentioned, hollow eyelids can make you look tired on the outside
and make it hard to appear youthful,
and they can also weaken the force used to open the eyes,
leading to eye strain, dry eye syndrome, and ptosis,
so improvement is something that is definitely needed.

For those who have wondered how to solve these concerns,
today we would like to introduce eyelid volume up.
Eyelid volume up is another name for upper eyelid orbital fat repositioning surgery,
and it is a way to improve hollow eyelids.

Eyelid volume up refers to a method that pulls the fat hidden behind the eyebrow downward
and repositions it in the sunken eyelid area.
You may wonder how volume can be added without harvesting and placing fat into the sunken area,
since there is no fat there.
This is the part where, when you pinch your eyebrow with two fingers,
you can feel the hidden fat being caught.

Previously, to improve the eyelids and create a youthful-looking eye shape,
fat grafting was often performed.
Upper eyelid fat grafting was done by harvesting fat from areas with abundant fat such as the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks,
then separating it and injecting it into the sunken eyelids.
With this method, because the survival rate of the transplanted fat is low,
more than 50% may subside within 1 to 2 months,
and in some cases there was a high possibility of adhesion, causing the surface to become uneven.
For these reasons, additional fat grafting may have been necessary,
ptosis correction was needed separately, and in some cases the symptoms could become more severe.

In contrast, eyelid volume up removes the cause of sunken eyes,
and is a method that makes the most of the fat tissue around the orbit and repositions it.
Because it is a repositioning method rather than a method of harvesting fat,
there is no need to worry about sinking due to survival rate,
and improvement can be achieved with a single surgery without additional procedures.
It also tends to leave the surface smooth without unevenness,
and can improve ptosis through eye correction surgery as well.

Just as everyone has a different appearance and ages differently,
the degree of hollowing in the eyelids also varies.
At our clinic, we provide customized methods depending on the degree of hollowing.
If the degree of hollowing is not severe,
we complete volume restoration of the eyelids and a refreshed eye shape
with only ptosis correction and surgery to advance and reposition the orbital fat.
If the degree of hollowing is severe,
ptosis correction, orbital fat repositioning, fat grafting, and fat injection are needed,
and depending on the condition, we provide volume using micro fat grafting and dermofat grafting.

The eyes are an important area responsible for vision,
so they are not important only for aesthetic reasons.
At our clinic, we proceed with a method that takes into account not only the aesthetic aspects of the eyes,
which determine appearance, but also their function,
so you can expect satisfying results.
