[Eye Surgery] Getting Double Eyelid Surgery Quickly and Discreetly for Vacation!

With the short holiday period approaching,

we thought we’d take some time to talk about

getting double eyelid surgery quickly and discreetly

for those who need it.

For celebrities facing a busy schedule,

discreet double eyelid surgery!

Sometimes among celebrities,

when a filming schedule is just around the corner,

the double eyelid line may have loosened,

or an additional crease may have formed,

and in order to cleanly define the eyelid line,

they urgently arrange a surgery schedule.

Since they have a schedule in 1–2 weeks,

they often ask us to make it as unnoticeable as possible.

To perform surgery that is not noticeable like this,

we need to pay attention to both the surgical

and non-surgical aspects.

First, looking at the surgical aspects,

first of all,

double eyelid surgery should be done using a non-incisional method.

If it is judged that an incisional approach is absolutely necessary,

rather than rushing to schedule the surgery,

we recommend allowing enough recovery time

and receiving only the surgery that is truly needed.

If only recovery is fast but an incision is needed,

it is not recommended to perform a non-incisional surgery.

Second,

during surgery, local anesthetic injections are also administered

in the minimum amount needed,

only to the necessary areas, without overdoing it.

This is because minimizing swelling caused by the local anesthetic,

as well as bruising or bleeding that may occur during anesthetic administration,

is important for a quick recovery.

Third,

during surgery, we adjust the medication as much as possible

so that a deep and calm sedated state can be maintained,

and focus more on minimizing bleeding caused by unnecessary movement during the procedure.

If surgery is performed without sleep sedation,

there is the advantage of being able to ask the patient to open their eyes during the procedure

so the shape can be checked more easily,

but

if the patient is tense, there may be some difficulty proceeding with the surgery

because the eyelids may tremble.

On the other hand, if surgery is performed under light sedation,

there is the advantage that preparation and waiting time are shorter,

so the surgery can proceed more quickly,

but the patient may move as if talking in their sleep during the procedure,

and unexpected bruising may occur.

If the surgical factors mentioned above have the biggest impact,

the items introduced from here on are somewhat secondary

non-surgical factors.

Even so, for people for whom quick recovery is more important than anything else,

their effect cannot be said to be insignificant.

The first is LLLT

(LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY),

a monochromatic light therapy.

This treatment helps wound healing through low-level laser irradiation

and has the effect of suppressing swelling and inflammation,

so it can help shorten the recovery period after surgery.

The second is

cold and warm compresses after surgery.

For about the first 2–3 days after surgery, it is best to use cool cold compresses

to suppress swelling and bleeding as much as possible,

and after the risk of bleeding decreases,

warm compresses can be used to help promote recovery.

When can I go swimming?

If you go swimming, go hiking, play golf, or do other exercise that makes you sweat,

the surgical area will be exposed to water.

For procedures with almost no incision, such as buried-suture methods or fat grafting,

the wound should be fine after 3–4 days,

and for eye surgery with an incision,

after one week,

water touching the wound should not be a major problem.

However, it is best to avoid staying in water for too long.

After sweating a lot or going swimming,

it is good to lightly rinse the affected area with clean water

and then dry it.

When can I drink alcohol?

This is one of the most common questions after surgery.

In fact, drinking alcohol does not cause an infection that was not already there in the wound,

but depending on the person, after drinking,

the surgical area may become itchier,

so they may keep rubbing it without realizing it,

or if they drink excessively to the point of staggering,

they may fall or bump into something and injure the surgical area.

If it is not the level of excessive drinking mentioned above,

lightly having one or two glasses of wine is fine starting about two days after stitch removal.

Double eyelid surgery vs. LASIK — which should come first?

Does the order matter?

If we choose the order between double eyelid surgery and LASIK,

double eyelid surgery should be done first.

LASIK and LASEK are laser procedures that remove corneal tissue

to change the refractive power,

and they are performed with lasers.

Depending on the surgical method, although it is rare,

during double eyelid surgery,

when the conjunctival side of the eye is flipped for examination,

or while waking up from sleep anesthesia,

the eyes may become uncomfortable in a drowsy state,

and there is a risk of corneal damage

if the patient rubs their eyes without realizing it.

We recommend having LASIK or LASEK done

after the swelling has subsided to some extent following double eyelid surgery.
