Hello.
#Hakdong Station Plastic Surgery
This is April 31 Plastic Surgery.
Some people go through life after a single nose surgery without any special symptoms,
but in many cases, revision surgery becomes necessary for various reasons.
In this case, the patient had revision rhinoplasty for a #contracted_nose,
and after the contracted nose reconstruction surgery, they said they were concerned that
the bridge line looked bumpy.
The reason for the bumpy line
and the solution
We will look into it with the hospital’s chief surgeon,
#Dr.KimJaehoon.

Having revision nose surgery does not necessarily mean
that there is a major risk.
Surgery for complications can be more difficult
than other procedures, but issues such as dissatisfaction with the line,
adjusting the bridge height, or replacing an implant due to aging
are not considered especially high-risk surgeries.
Q. After revision rhinoplasty,
the line looks bumpy.
Is this a surgical side effect?
A. It is not a side effect caused by the revision surgery.
Sometimes, minced cartilage used in the previous surgery may remain attached
to the skin in some areas.
In that case, tiny irregularities may be felt,
like acne marks.

#When performing revision rhinoplasty
the materials used in the previous surgery
are removed.
If cartilage was used instead of a single independent implant
like silicone,
a more careful removal process is needed.

This patient had nose surgery using cartilage
before the contracted nose surgery.
The cartilage used at that time is
finely chopped like garlic
and inserted as a #nose_implant.
So if the finely broken implant is
adhered closely to the skin,
it may be difficult to remove 100% at once.
More precisely, removal is possible,
but if it is removed too aggressively,
it can place stress on the skin and tissue.

When the cartilage fragments stick to the skin,
a bumpy line appears,
like tiny irregularities at that spot.
#The bridge line surgery itself was not done incorrectly,
and this is a phenomenon caused by remnants of the previous implant,
so it can be corrected.
Correction can be performed relatively simply
through additional surgery to remove the remaining cartilage.

The reason the cartilage was not completely removed in the first surgery
was that the procedure was performed for a contracted nose,
and if the cartilage that was attached had also been removed too aggressively,
the skin could have been stressed.
So this was a case in which some cartilage was intentionally left behind
from the beginning, with a second surgery in mind.

However, dividing the surgery into stages does not mean
performing major surgery multiple times.
After completing all the main work in the first surgery,
fine microsurgery is then used
to remove the cartilage left behind
and perform any additional necessary corrections.
When carried out this way,
it can actually reduce risk
and allow for more detailed correction,
making safe revision surgery and correction possible.

We looked into related questions today,
and we hope Dr. Kim Jae-hoon, the chief surgeon at
#April31PlasticSurgery,
was able to help.
