What Does a Plastic Surgeon Do During Break Time?

Q. What do you usually do when you’re resting?

A. I sometimes listen to music,

and I also often read short books.

I don’t have that much free time,

so rather than long novels,

I tend to read a lot of short stories.

Q. What genre of music

do you mainly listen to?

A. In terms of overall share,

classical music takes up about half,

and for the rest, I listen to a variety of music,

such as Korean pop, pop, jazz, and movie OSTs.

When it comes to classical music, I like pieces

where the piano is the main instrument.

So I tend to listen mainly to piano solo pieces

or concertos.

performers or pieces you especially like.

A. If I were to mention just one performer

I like, I’m a fan of pianist Lim Yunchan.

Recently, pianist Lim Yunchan’s

Tchaikovsky Four Seasons album was released,

so I’ve been listening to it often.

Also, sometimes when a live radio broadcast

of a performance with an overseas orchestra is available,

I listen to it when the timing works out.

Q. I’m also curious about artists

that you enjoy listening to outside of classical music.

A. I place a lot of importance on vocal tone,

so I like singers who match that point.

Kim Dong-ryul, Jung Joon-il, Park Ji-yoon, Sunwoojunga, and more...

You probably have a sense of what they have in common, right?

I tend to listen a lot to music by artists

with that kind of vocal tone.

Recently, I’ve also been listening to

Teacher Jeong Mi-jo’s music a lot.

Q. Do you also listen to classical music

in the operating room?

A. No, haha.

If we play classical music in the operating room,

most people get sleepy (...)

Usually, we mainly listen to music

from genres the assistant staff like.

Also, the atmosphere in the operating room should be good,

so we usually play recent songs or tracks with an upbeat mood.

What kinds of performances do you

go to see, exactly?

A. It’s almost the same as the share of genres I usually listen to.

Classical performances make up half, and for the other half,
