Hello, this is I-Nique Plastic Surgery.
You had an epicanthoplasty because you wanted clearer-looking eyes,
but people still say you look tight or uncomfortable?
If the surgery does not suit the shape of your eyes,
it is practically no different from simply opening the eyes.
So today, let’s look at how epicanthoplasty revision surgery is performed.

Epicanthoplasty is a procedure that refines the inner corners of the eyes
by adjusting the epicanthal fold, creating a more open-looking eye shape.
However, if the dissection range is set too wide and too much is opened,
it can cause side effects such as excessive caruncle exposure.
At I-Nique, we offer epicanthoplasty revision surgery that restores the eyes to an ideal shape,
as well as mini epicanthoplasty revision.
We’ll continue by looking at what surgical methods are used for each type
to help create clearer and more attractive eyes.

First, when too much has been opened,
generally, it is said that about 1/3 to 2/3 of caruncle exposure is appropriate.
So if more than 2/3 of the caruncle is exposed,
epicanthoplasty revision surgery is performed using the V-Y ADVANCEMENT method.
V-Y ADVANCEMENT involves making an incision along the existing scar at the inner corner,
dissecting the skin so it can be moved,
and then closing it with a zipper-like suture technique.
Usually, about 1/3 is closed, and if more is closed than that,
it can create a tight-looking impression,
so at I-Nique, we first accurately assess the amount of caruncle exposure
before performing the revision surgery.

Another method is I-Nique’s patented technique,
the mini epicanthoplasty revision.
It removes only part of the epicanthal fold,
without making a major change to the amount of caruncle exposure,
and sharply refines the inner corner shape to create a refreshed impression.
This procedure is for people who still look tight or uncomfortable even after epicanthoplasty,
because the shape of the inner corner is more important than the amount of caruncle exposure.
Even if a lot of the caruncle is visible, if the inner corner looks round,
it can still appear tight,
so that is why revision surgery is performed.

Once eye surgery has already been performed, it generally takes 6 months for scar tissue to heal.
In other words, revision surgery is possible starting 6 months later.
However, if the symptoms are severe and normal social life is impossible,
revision surgery may be performed regardless of timing, so we hope you will visit us for a consultation.

So far, we have looked at epicanthoplasty revision surgery.
The reason for revision surgery is, of course, to make the eyes look as natural as if they had always been that way from the beginning.
The more important it becomes to find a design that suits you best through consultation with an experienced specialist.
That is why I-Nique continues to study natural and beautiful eyes,
and we would like to tell you that you can trust us and visit us with confidence.
So, from the beginning, as if you had always been beautiful,
this has been I-Nique.
Thank you.
