Hello, this is Ainek Plastic Surgery.
Everyone has an ideal appearance
in mind.
Some people prefer a cat or fox look, while others
prefer a puppy or turtle-like look—there are so many different and clear preferences.
Among those considering eye surgery,
there is one common point.
That is wanting eyes that look bright and clear.
Bright and clear eyes can give a healthy and lively
impression, so they can especially leave a good impression
during a first meeting.
However, even after surgery to achieve these eyes,
if the result looks different from what you expected or
you feel discomfort, revision surgery can help
restore a design that suits you.

Today, among revision surgeries, we’ll look at epicanthoplasty revision.
Epicanthoplasty is a surgery that refines the Mongolian fold at the inner corner of the eyes
to create a brighter-looking eye shape.
If the correction was overdone or underdone, revision surgery
can restore an ideal shape.
At Ainek, there is a standard epicanthoplasty revision that restores the area where
too much of the lacrimal caruncle is exposed to create a natural inner eye corner, and when someone has already had epicanthoplasty but the inner corner still looks round and heavy, there is also a mini epicanthoplasty revision that sharpens the shape through fine excision.
Shall we take a closer look?

First, let’s look at the basic epicanthoplasty revision.
The red part visible at the inner corner of the eye
is called the lacrimal caruncle. The amount of exposure of this lacrimal caruncle is generally
about 1/3 to 2/3.
However, if more than 2/3 is exposed, it can easily create an unnatural
and sharp-looking impression.
In other words, if too much of the lacrimal caruncle is exposed,
epicanthoplasty revision is needed.
This revision surgery is called V-Y advancement.
The surgeon makes an incision along the epicanthoplasty scar,
then separates the skin so it can move, and finally
closes it with sutures in a zipper-like manner.
At this point, closing it too much can make the eyes look
too tight, so closing about one-third is appropriate.

Next, let’s look at mini epicanthoplasty revision.
This is a procedure often recommended for people whose lacrimal caruncle exposure is appropriate after epicanthoplasty surgery but whose eyes still look heavy.
In epicanthoplasty, the amount of lacrimal caruncle exposure is important, but
the shape of the inner corner of the eye is even more important.
That is, even if a lot of the lacrimal caruncle is visible, if the inner corner shape is
round, it can still look heavy.
So by removing only part of the Mongolian fold, you can sharpen
the inner shape without greatly changing the amount of lacrimal caruncle exposure,
making the eyes look brighter and more open.
Excessive opening can make the lacrimal caruncle exposure too pronounced,
so it requires delicate technique. Be sure to have the surgery at a hospital you can trust!

I’ll also talk about the timing for epicanthoplasty revision and the price of epicanthoplasty revision.
First, eye revision surgery is generally possible after 6 months.
This is because it usually takes about 6 months for the hard scar tissue to soften.
However, if the symptoms are severe and normal social life is impossible,
you can have revision surgery regardless of timing.
In other words, it is not something you can do just anytime you want.
Second, you may also be wondering about the price of epicanthoplasty revision.
Since the surgical method changes depending on the condition of the eyes, it would be best to visit the hospital and have a consultation to confirm the details.

So far, we’ve covered the types of epicanthoplasty revision
and the price of epicanthoplasty revision as well.
