Sausage eyes are a side effect that occurs depending on an individual’s skin condition, the natural crease of the eyes, and the degree of ptosis. In medical terms, they are diagnosed as double-eyelid hypertrophy or pretarsal hypertrophy.

The size of the double eyelid is very important not only in revision surgery but also in the initial surgery, and it is very important to determine the height that suits you through consultation with a plastic surgery specialist.

If there is sufficient skin at this time, the skin between the existing high line and the target line is excised, and the double-eyelid height is lowered to resolve the sausage-like appearance and make it natural. If there is not enough skin, a method called "double-line incision" is used, which lowers the line while preserving the skin.

Double-line incision is a high-difficulty method used only when there is a lack of skin. It involves making an incision along the new design, preserving the skin, and dissecting and releasing the upper original line, so it is best to have the surgery performed by a doctor with extensive experience.

Eyes with ptosis, where the muscles that open the eyes are weak and the correction has not been done, can also make the double eyelids look larger and appear sausage-like.

As you can see in the image, even though the double-eyelid line is not high, it looks thick and obscures the pupil, so the field of vision is not clearly secured, so correction is definitely recommended.

When there is insufficient fat in the upper eyelid area, the double eyelids can also look larger.

A double eyelid is simply a fold in the eyelid. As the eyelid skin folds along the double-eyelid line, the skin above the line covers the skin below. When there is not enough fat around the eyes, this sunken appearance is called eyelid hollowing.

People with eyelid hollowing may have double eyelids that look larger, and may look older or tired, so they may need a procedure to add volume to the upper eyelid area.
