Usually, when people think of double eyelids, they imagine a natural, clear single fold line. But today, for those who are stressed because their double eyelids have formed in multiple folds, I would like to post about the causes of multiple eyelid folds and how to address them.

So, what causes multiple eyelid folds?

The causes of overlapping double eyelids are very diverse, including cases where the double eyelid fold has loosened, insufficient fat or soft tissue above the eyes, and adhesions caused by surgery.

Therefore, if you have overlapping double eyelids, in order to resolve them, it is important to properly identify why your eyes developed multiple folds and why that happened in the first place.

In such cases, increasing the volume through fat grafting above the eyes can sufficiently solve the problem, but because the eyelid skin is much thinner than other skin, special care must be taken with the amount of fat injected.

Lastly, if adhesions have formed due to surgery

After surgery to lower the double eyelid line, adhesions may form at the height where the previous double eyelid line used to be, causing multiple folds.

In such cases, we perform a surgery that releases the adhered area while preventing adhesions, using the Inique adhesion release procedure.

In addition, an important point to know in order to resolve multiple eyelid folds is the nature of wrinkles. Because wrinkles have their own characteristics, after determining whether the current wrinkle is one that will go away or not, the height of the double eyelid line must be appropriately set accordingly.
