Hello.
This is Inique Plastic Surgery.
Today, we’ll look into the causes of so-called “sausage eyes,” which account for the largest share of reasons people undergo eye revision surgery, and the methods for achieving a successful revision.
The causes of today’s topic, sausage eyes, vary, but in general, it refers to eyes with a thick and puffy double eyelid line that looks unnatural.

The causes of sausage double eyelids include cases where the double eyelid surgery itself failed, but sausage double eyelids can also 충분히 occur when there is an excessively high double eyelid line, either congenital or created after surgery, when ptosis has not been corrected, or when there is insufficient fat above the eyes.

In cases of sausage eyes caused by an excessively high double eyelid line,
it may be due to a person’s natural appearance, but if the line goes beyond the appropriate range during double eyelid surgery, the likelihood of developing sausage double eyelids is very high.
The proper size of the double eyelid line is not only the most important factor for successful sausage-eye revision surgery,
but also very important in the first surgery.
If the double eyelid size is set too low, it may loosen quickly or the post-surgery design may be unsatisfactory.
On the other hand, if it is set too high, unnatural double eyelids can form, so the appropriate double eyelid range must be determined according to your eyes and overall facial impression.
In particular, when performing sausage-eye revision surgery,
the revision method differs depending on whether there is enough skin laxity or not,
so if you want a successful sausage-eye revision,
you must choose a specialized eye plastic surgery clinic.
If there is enough skin laxity,
a solution to lower the line will be performed, and the process is relatively simple.
However,
if there is not enough skin laxity,
a highly advanced method called the double-line method must be used.
The double-line method lowers the line while preserving the skin.
Because it involves incising along a new design while preserving the skin, it must be performed by specialized medical staff with extensive surgical experience to ensure safety and prevent the same problem from recurring.
If ptosis correction is needed,
ptosis is a condition in which the eyelid droops and blocks the field of vision.

When ptosis weakens the force used to open the eyes, the line can look larger even if the double eyelid is not high.
If ptosis is present,
even correcting only the eyelid opening can make it possible to create a small, natural-looking line.
At Inique, for firm eyelid correction that does not loosen,
we perform dense, high-density correction using a non-incision method.

Lastly, if there is not enough fat above the eyes,
the double eyelid may appear relatively larger,
which can lead to sausage eyes.
This is commonly called sunken upper eyelids, and it refers to an indented appearance caused by insufficient fat above the eyes.
If sausage eyes are caused by this reason,
it can be sufficiently improved by adding volume with fat or filler above the patient’s eyes,
and in such cases, the right amount must be placed in the correct location to achieve good results.

Today, we looked at the causes and solutions together for how to succeed in sausage-eye revision surgery.
Above all, since there are various causes,
please remember that accurately identifying the cause based on your own condition is important.
