Hello.
This is Inique Plastic Surgery.
When you meet someone,
which part of the face do you look at first?
When talking with someone or looking at them,
the eyes are probably the first thing you notice.
For that reason, many people think the eyes
have a strong influence on first impressions.
Because of this, demand is also growing for clearer-looking eyes
with the goal of making a better impression on others.
Today, we’ll take a look at canthoplasty surgery,
which can open up a constricted-looking eye shape
and create a fresher impression.
At Inique, there are various types of canthoplasty.
Depending on the eye shape you want,
we recommend a customized eye-opening procedure.
Today, let’s find out what type your eyes are,
and which canthoplasty procedure
would be appropriate for that type.

Inique’s canthoplasty procedures
can be divided into four types.
① Mini epicanthoplasty
② Epicanthoplasty and upper canthoplasty
③ Safe lateral canthoplasty
④ Lower and outer canthoplasty
Shall we take a closer look at canthoplasty surgery
with Inique now?

First is mini epicanthoplasty.
Mini epicanthoplasty is Inique’s signature procedure,
created to compensate for the shortcomings of standard epicanthoplasty.
It refers to a procedure that refines the inner corners of the eyes
so the eyes do not look too close together, scar too much,
or expose too much of the lacrimal caruncle (the red part at the inner corner of the eye where tears collect).
Because only the Mongolian fold area is dissected,
the amount of opening is not large,
and scars are also barely left behind,
which is why many people choose Inique’s unique mini epicanthoplasty!
Above all, mini epicanthoplasty is a proprietary technique
available only at Inique,
with a trademark filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office.

The next type we’d like to introduce is suitable for those who want a sharper, longer eye shape,
those whose inner corners look cramped because the Mongolian fold blocks the front of the eye,
or those with a somewhat wide distance between the eyebrows.
At Inique, in such cases we refine the Mongolian fold
so the front part of the eyes can look more open.
If you want to clearly improve a constricted-looking eye shape,
we recommend getting a consultation for epicanthoplasty and upper canthoplasty at Inique.

Lateral canthoplasty is a canthoplasty procedure
that separates the skin and mucosa at the outer corner of the eye
to open the eyes more freely.
However, because lateral canthoplasty may expose the red inner tissue (mucosa),
possible side effects need to be carefully considered.
In contrast, Inique’s safe lateral canthoplasty
makes only the necessary incisions in the mucosa,
and removes less skin than mucosa,
so as a principle it prevents conjunctival exposure or eyelid turning outward (ectropion),
which would cause the red inner tissue to be exposed outside the mucosa.

Lastly, the canthoplasty procedure introduced here
is recommended for people whose outer eye corners are significantly upturned.
Through lateral canthopexy and lowering the outer corner of the eye,
the back part is opened while the outer corner is fixed to the outer orbital bone,
creating an ideal angle of about 5 to 10 degrees.
Because it has the effect of adjusting the angle of the outer corner,
the overall impression looks softer,
and the eyes can be corrected to appear longer and more open.

So far, we have looked at four customized canthoplasty procedures
based on the design you want.
