Hello,
This is Inique.
If you clearly opened your eyes wide when taking a photo,
but later the result makes it look like your eyes were half-closed,
or if people around you often ask whether you are sleepy
even when you are perfectly fine,
you may have ptosis.
Ptosis is a condition in which the eyelid partially covers the pupil,
and it is also called “sleepy eyes” or “drooping eyes.”
Ptosis eye correction is broadly divided into two types:
non-incisional eye correction and incisional eye correction.
Today, we will look at the differences between the two methods,
along with their pros and cons,
to find out what the difference is between eye correction and double eyelid surgery,
and which people they are suitable for.

Ptosis refers to how much the black pupil in the center of the eye is exposed.
“Eye lid” means the eyelid, and “ptosis” means drooping.
Normally, when you open your eyes to a regular size,
the eyelid covers 1 to 2 mm of the black pupil,
but if more than 2 mm is covered,
the eyes can look sleepy.

If you have ptosis,
the following symptoms may appear.
- You often hear from people around you that you look sleepy or dazed.
- When you look straight ahead, it feels cramped because your field of vision does not seem fully open.
- You tense your forehead when opening your eyes.
- Your eyelashes keep poking your eyes.
If the symptoms above apply to you, it may be ptosis,
and it can be improved through eye correction.

The muscles that play an important role in opening the eyes are
the levator palpebrae superioris and the Müller muscle.
These muscles or tendons are tied and shortened to correct the eye area.
Through this process, the patient’s ability to open the eyes improves,
so they no longer need to use their forehead muscles when opening their eyes.
Based on this principle,
non-incisional eye correction, which shortens the Müller muscle by tying it using the buried suture method without an incision,
has the advantages of a shorter surgery time and recovery period,
so it is a method preferred by patients.

At Inique, we increase the number of fixation points
to design a line that is smoother
and less likely to loosen.
If the number of fixation points is increased, the double eyelid line becomes smoother,
and because it is less likely to loosen
and can last longer, there is less concern about revision surgery.
On the other hand, in the incisional method,
if re-correction is needed later, or if the double eyelids loosen over time,
re-correction can be difficult because an incision has already been made,
so it is best to make the surgical plan after thorough consultation.

Director Yang Hae-won’s chapter on the buried suture method
and non-incisional eye correction
was contributed to the U.S. textbook AESTHETIC PLASTIC SURGERY OF THE EAST ASIAN FACE.
In this way, Inique Plastic Surgery
conducts research and develops its own techniques
based on extensive experience in eye surgery and revision surgery,
and as a plastic surgery clinic specializing in eye surgery,
it has repeatedly applied for trademarks with the Korean Intellectual Property Office,
demonstrating its refined technical expertise.
At Inique, we provide thorough consultations and precise surgery
to achieve the most natural and satisfying results
suited to each individual.
Ptosis surgery is not so much a procedure to improve appearance
as it is a surgery that restores the function of opening the eyes,
whereas double eyelid surgery has a stronger cosmetic nature.
Because of this, you should make your decision only after充分 consultation with a specialist before surgery.
If you are considering eye correction,
choose Inique, a specialized eye plastic surgery clinic with expertise and distinction.
So until now,
as if you were beautiful from the very beginning,
this was Inique.
Thank you.
