Hello,
This is I&EK.
What is the plastic surgery procedure that many people choose as early as their school years?
It is double eyelid surgery.
Recently, it has become so common and accessible that it is even called a procedure rather than surgery.
However, even double eyelid surgery, which many people choose, can lead to side effects after the operation. One of them is a double eyelid crease, also called a multiple eyelid fold.
Today, we’ll take a look with I&EK at how to perfectly resolve this double eyelid crease.

Have you heard of the phenomenon where the double eyelid line forms in multiple layers, such as double or even triple eyelids?
A double eyelid crease refers to an unintended fold appearing above the double eyelid line, creating multiple lines and preventing the eye from having a smooth line.
Especially if this multiple-eyelid condition occurs after double eyelid surgery, it can be upsetting and cause a lot of concern. So what causes it?

The causes of double eyelid creases vary from person to person, but they can largely be divided into three types.
First, it can happen when the double eyelid folds come undone.
This applies when the fold becomes loosened because it was not properly secured after surgery.
Second, it can occur when there is insufficient fat or soft tissue above the eye.
Lastly, it can happen due to adhesions caused by surgery, resulting in a triple eyelid.
If a triple eyelid develops after double eyelid surgery or another procedure, it can be improved with revision surgery.
So when is the right time to perform revision surgery?
In most cases, revision surgery is performed about 6 months after the original operation.
Generally, this is because hardened scar tissue becomes softer after about 6 months, so the procedure is done at that time.
However, if the symptoms are very severe and interfere with daily life, revision surgery is performed regardless of timing.

The surgical method is also performed differently depending on the cause of the double eyelid crease.
First, here is the method used when the double eyelid fold has come undone.
If wrinkles form because the fixation of the double eyelid has loosened or come undone, the issue can be resolved by securing the fold firmly again.
At I&EK, the double eyelid line is fixed with triple fixation to prevent it from coming undone.
In addition, to create a natural line by adjusting the depth of the double eyelid, I&EK’s unique smooth incision technique is used to improve a double eyelid crease into a smooth line.

What should be done when a crease forms because there is not enough fat or soft tissue above the eye?
When there is sufficient volume above the eye, the skin above the double eyelid covers the skin below it, creating a natural line.
However, if the amount of fat and soft tissue is insufficient, the skin above the double eyelid can sink in, creating a fold above the double eyelid and possibly resulting in a triple eyelid.
Therefore, I&EK improves triple eyelids by using an eyelid fat grafting method that implants microfat in layers to prevent clumping.
Finally, if a triple eyelid occurs due to adhesions caused by surgery, I&EK’s adhesion release procedure is used to separate the adhered area and place fat and muscle underneath to prevent the adhesions from recurring.
If ptosis is also present in such cases, eyelid correction is performed together to create a more natural and smooth double eyelid line and a brighter, more open eye appearance.

Today, we looked at the causes of triple eyelids, which are double eyelid creases, and the customized solutions for each case. Was this helpful?
In the case of triple eyelids, they rarely disappear naturally. So if you are feeling stressed because of them, we recommend consulting with a medical professional and finding a solution together through an accurate consultation.
