Hello, this is INEEK from Apgujeong Station Plastic Surgery.
Today, together with Dr. Yang Hae-won, the chief director of INEEK, we will take some time to talk through questions many people have had about double eyelid revision surgery.

We often get questions from people who have already had double eyelid surgery using the incisional method about whether revision surgery can be done with the non-incisional method.
Is this method actually possible?
At Apgujeong Station Plastic Surgery INEEK, we say that it is not possible.
Basically, if the first surgery was done using the incisional method, revision surgery is also usually performed using the incisional method as a rule.
However, in very rare exceptional cases, it may be possible to proceed with a non-incisional method.

Then, for those who previously had double eyelid surgery using the incisional method, you may wonder whether it is difficult to expect good results if revision surgery is done with the non-incisional method.
Double eyelid surgery is a procedure that creates the eyelid line by forming adhesion between multiple tissues, including the muscle layer, the skin, and the soft tissue underneath.
During this process, adhesion occurs as the skin sticks to the inner tissue, and after surgery, firm tissue similar to scar tissue forms, with its strength varying by area.
In other words, because the condition of the tissues around the eyes is completely different from before surgery, it is difficult to achieve stable results with a simple non-incisional method during revision surgery.

However, if revision surgery is performed non-incisionally in this state, the following issues may occur.
First, if a hard area with skin adhesion is fixed with buried sutures, it can easily come loose.
Second, when surgery is performed on hard and irregular areas, the double eyelid line may become uneven.
Simply put, incisional revision surgery is a process of newly reconstructing the components of the tissue.
But if all of that is skipped and the area is simply fixed with a non-incisional method, the likelihood of the line not looking smooth increases.
It is also necessary to consider why revision surgery is being sought.
Usually, revision surgery is performed when the double eyelid has come undone, when there is asymmetry, or when there is a problem with the size.
However, if it has come undone even after being done with the incisional method, the chance of it coming undone again is even higher if it is done non-incisionally.
For that reason, in cases of asymmetry, the incisional method is much more advantageous, and if the surgery is performed with the incisional method after carefully checking factors such as eye-opening correction and the amount of fat, a more satisfying result can be expected.

Even so, if you say, 'I want to proceed with the non-incisional method,' what types of cases are possible?
Very rarely, revision surgery is done non-incisionally in cases where the double eyelid is very unlikely to come undone.
If the skin is relatively thin, the ability to open the eyes is good, the person wants the original size to be fixed, and there is no asymmetry, then the non-incisional method is possible.
Today, together with Dr. Yang Hae-won, the chief director of Apgujeong Station Plastic Surgery INEEK, we looked in detail at whether revision surgery can be performed using the buried-suture method when the first double eyelid surgery was done with the incisional method.
The best plan for double eyelid revision surgery is a customized surgery designed accurately for me by comprehensively considering the surgical method that suits me, the structure of my eyes, my skin condition, and my personal expectations for my appearance.
For customized surgery, Apgujeong Station Plastic Surgery INEEK carefully analyzes each individual’s eye condition, appearance, and surgical history to propose a surgical plan that can achieve the most ideal result.
