Hello, this is Ainic.
As time goes by, appearance is becoming more important,
and perceptions of cosmetic surgery have changed a lot.
These days, cosmetic surgery is seen as a form of self-care
and is 자리 as a way to improve areas of appearance that seem lacking.

That is why not only teenage students,
but also young adults and middle-aged people
of various age groups are visiting plastic surgery clinics.
As preference for cosmetic surgery has increased like this,
and medical technology has advanced,
various methods of cosmetic surgery have emerged.

Among them, a procedure that continues to maintain steady popularity
and is tried by quite a lot of people
is double eyelid surgery.
Although it is much safer than in the past
and medical technology has advanced,
there can still be side effects such as not being able to close the eyes properly after double eyelid surgery,
or overlapping eyelid folds,
so before proceeding with surgery,
it is important to carefully consider various factors before making a decision.

Today, we will look at what overlapping eyelids are,
one of the possible side effects after double eyelid surgery,
why they occur,
and how revision surgery is performed.

Overlapping eyelids are a phenomenon in which unintended creases appear above the double eyelid line.
When this happens,
instead of having only one clean double eyelid line,
multiple folds are formed,
and overlapping eyelids are also called "three-fold eyelids".
They can look heavy and as if they have turtle-like eyes.

The causes of overlapping eyelids can be broadly divided into three categories.
First, the previously created double eyelid fold loosens and overlapping eyelids develop.
If the double eyelid was not secured firmly during surgery,
or if a long time has passed and the fixed line becomes loose,
overlapping eyelids can occur.
Second, there is a lack of fat and soft tissue above the eyes.
If there is not enough fat volume in the upper eyelid area,
overlapping eyelids can occur.
Third, it occurs due to adhesion during surgery.

These are the three main problems,
and by identifying the cause of each overlapping eyelid issue,
a revision method suited to the cause can be applied.
Revision double eyelid surgery is generally recommended about 6 months after the first surgery.
However, if the side effects are too severe
and make daily life difficult,
revision surgery can be performed after 충분한 consultation with the medical team.

The method varies depending on why overlapping eyelids or three-fold eyelids occurred.
In general, if there is no lack of volume above the eyes,
the skin above the double eyelid can naturally cover the lower skin
and create a clean line.
However, if there is not enough volume,
the skin above the double eyelid can become sunken,
and wrinkles can form above the double eyelid line,
causing overlapping eyelids.
Therefore, if the case lacks soft tissue or upper eyelid fat,
revision surgery is performed by delicately injecting and grafting microfat.

In general, multiple layers of double eyelids occur
when a previously created double eyelid has loosened.
In this case, the issue can be resolved by re-fixing the three-fold eyelid that appeared as it loosened or came undone.
The method applied by Ainic in this case is the smooth incision method, and triple fixation is the key.
The front part of the eye, which is an area that tends to loosen more easily than other parts,
is firmly fixed three times more securely than other areas,
depending the likelihood of loosening,
and the fixation depth is also adjusted
so that the line is not uneven
and is completed naturally.

Third, when adhesion has occurred.
If the double eyelid line was set too high,
surgery may be performed to lower the double eyelid line,
but adhesion occurs at the original double eyelid position and overlaps.
To solve this problem,
adhesion release surgery can be performed,
and in some cases the adhered area is released
and the muscle and fat are lowered and inserted.

So far, together with Ainic, we have explained the factors behind overlapping eyelids
and the solutions.
