About 1 to 2 months after double-eyelid surgery,

a lot of people wonder,

"It feels like my double-eyelid line has gotten thinner than before.

Did it loosen?"

However, in most cases,

this is not because the double eyelid has loosened,

but because the double-eyelid line is in the process of settling in.

So today at iNique,

the topic we will explain is

how the double-eyelid line can change after surgery,

or an actual sign that it has loosened.

In general, after surgery,

the double-eyelid line often looks thicker and higher

than it really is.

This is because of tissue swelling and bruising caused by the surgery.

When surgery is performed, microvessels and the surrounding soft tissues

and as blood components and tissue fluid leak out of the vessels,

bruising and swelling can appear.

In particular, as the amount of water in the tissue increases due to an inflammatory response,

the line may temporarily look darker and thicker.

Also, after the surgery is completed,

the damaged area goes through a healing and recovery process,

and vascular dilation due to inflammation can cause swelling.

Naturally, after surgery,

the area around the eyes becomes larger and more swollen

than before.

So during the 1 to 2 month period,

the swelling and damage gradually subside as they heal,

and the line settles down more stably,

which naturally makes the double-eyelid line appear lower.

This should be understood not as the double eyelid having loosened,

but as the process of postoperative swelling going down

and the line stabilizing at the height of your actual double-eyelid crease.

If you had an incisional double-eyelid procedure,

the process includes directly separating some of the skin, muscle, and fat layer,

so bruising and swelling can be relatively more severe.

On the other hand, if the non-incisional method was used,

there can be temporary inflammatory reactions and swelling

during the process of fixing the tissue with medical thread.

As the swelling caused by this is gradually absorbed and dispersed into the surrounding tissue,

it often improves naturally.

The final shape of the double-eyelid line

is usually completed within 3 to 6 months,

and during this period, the scar stabilizes,

the tissue also becomes softer,

and the strength used to open the eyes and the line

can naturally come into balance.

So at this stage,

if the double-eyelid line appears to have lowered slightly

or the thickness seems thinner,

that is normal,

so there is no need to worry too much.

However, there are also situations that require caution:

when you open your eyes, the double-eyelid line

is barely visible;

only one side of the double-eyelid line

has clearly disappeared;

or there is a change in the strength used to open the eyes.

Such patterns may indicate

that the double eyelid has partially loosened.

Even after surgery,

the double eyelid can continue to change.

This is because muscles, tissue, scars, and swelling

need time to settle together and establish the final shape.

Therefore, even if you feel within 1 to 2 months after surgery

that it may have loosened, it is difficult to conclude that it has definitely loosened.

The double-eyelid line is a living bodily structure,

and slight changes can occur as the eyes move.

It is not something that is completed immediately after surgery,

but rather a result created over time,

so please keep that in mind.
