The disaster film Knowing, which deals with a natural disaster in the form of a solar storm, contains a rather exciting story.
It is interesting that the mysterious numbers discovered 50 years ago are said to foretell disasters yet to come.
Lead actor Nicolas Cage gives a passionate performance, and it is impressive to see him struggling desperately to prevent the approaching catastrophe through these numbers.
Although they were initially incomprehensible numbers, the story unfolds dramatically as it gradually becomes clear what they mean.
Watching this film, which vividly portrays humanity’s efforts to survive in the face of a major crisis caused by a natural disaster, you can feel breathless tension and emotion.
This movie, with its SF element of a solar storm, clearly has a character different from that of a typical disaster film.
However, because of the scale and destructive power of that massive natural disaster, it seems reasonable to classify it as a disaster film.

What was appealing was the process in which the lead, Nicolas Cage, solves a complex mathematical formula, along with the overwhelming visual effects of the solar storm.
That said, there were some disappointing aspects in terms of the film’s overall completion and the harmony between its religious elements and its SF material.
As some viewers noted, it felt like the two genres were not blended well.
Still, because the unique subject matter and the scale of the disaster were memorable, I think it was overall a pretty decent film.
I also had various thoughts after watching the movie.
The film’s religious elements may have caused controversy among Christian viewers, but for those of us who are not religious, it felt like just an interesting setup.
The film’s main appeal was that it effectively depicted the desperate situations caused by natural disasters.
However, it is also true that some of the setups seemed somewhat forced as the SF elements were added. In the end, there can be a range of opinions depending on how one approaches the film.
For audiences unfamiliar with religious content, the ending may have felt somewhat difficult to understand.
Still, overall, it seems like a film worth watching for those looking for a large-scale disaster movie. On that point, I have a positive opinion.
