Facelift scars,
preoperative planning is important
Hello,
This is Globi Plastic Surgery Clinic.

Facelift scars
A clinic that follows the principles of plastic surgery, Globi Plastic Surgery Clinic
---
The most important thing in plastic surgery is to keep the basics. Plastic surgery must be designed with the patient’s whole life in mind. Both the process and the results of plastic surgery must be safe. Globi always puts the patient first.
Consultation is an important step that leads to surgery. To help you be satisfied with the surgical results, we promise customized consultations with medical staff with extensive clinical experience.
Aftercare can be said to be an extension of surgery. We provide customized care programs to help patients recover quickly.
As you look into a facelift,
there is a concern you are bound to come across at some point.
What if the scar is very noticeable?
I know the results are good, but because of this one concern,
many people end up postponing their decision more than expected.
We also make sure to address
this part during consultations.
But after doing this surgery for a long time, what we have felt is that
a large part of the concern about scars depends more on the "preoperative planning and preparation"
than on the surgery itself.
How it is planned
can make a big difference in the outcome.
Today, we would like to honestly explain
two factors that are truly important
for minimizing facelift scars.
If you read to the end, your vague worries
will become a bit more concrete.
Facelift scars,
are already determined at the planning stage
Facelift scars
First, what I want to say is that
how noticeable the scar is depends to a large extent not on the surgery itself,
but on "where and how the incision line is designed."

From the beginning, facelift incision lines
are positioned so they can be hidden as naturally as possible.
Typical approaches include hiding the incision line along the natural folds
that follow the shape of the ear,
or placing the incision line within the hairline.
This allows the scar to sit within the contours of the hair and ear,
so it often is not very noticeable in daily life.
But there is one more important point here.

Just as important as the incision line location
is how naturally the skin is lifted with tension.
If the skin is pulled too tightly,
unnecessary tension is created on the suture line.
In the end, this can cause the scar to stretch or become thicker.
On the other hand, if it is lifted while maintaining appropriate tension,
the suture line heals stably,
and over time the scar tends to fade more naturally.
Depending on how this planning process is handled,
the outcome can differ even for the same surgery.

This is also why one of the parts we devote the most effort to during preoperative consultations
is this very point.
When choosing a clinic, rather than simply asking about the surgical method,
please first check whether they can explain in detail
"what basis they use to design the incision line."
The suturing method and recovery timing
are variables that are easy to overlook
Facelift scars
Good planning is not the end.
How the suturing is completed,
and at what stage recovery takes place,
also have a surprisingly large impact on scar results.
In the case of suturing, it is not enough to simply pull the outer skin;
while dissecting the retaining ligaments,
the inner fascial layer (SMAS) must be fixed step by step.
Facelift scars
That way, the force applied to the skin surface is distributed,
which helps prevent the scar from becoming wider.
Even if the surgery takes a little longer,
we believe this process should not be skipped.
It may seem minor,
but as recovery progresses, this difference
starts to become visible.
In fact, we know from experience that even with the same incision line,
the final result can change depending on the suturing method alone.

And we cannot leave out the timing of recovery.
Ultraviolet rays can cause pigmentation in
skin that is healing,
so the more exposure there is, the greater the chance that the scar will remain darker and more noticeable.
Conversely, when ultraviolet rays are not yet strong,
having surgery at a time when recovery can be completed beforehand
is much more favorable in terms of scar management.
Before full summer arrives,
spring, when the UV index is still low,
is relatively advantageous in that respect.
If you are able to adjust the timing of surgery flexibly,
we recommend keeping this in mind as well.
Facelift scars
can be managed so they are not noticeable.
From preoperative planning to suturing and recovery timing,
the results vary depending on how carefully everything is prepared.
