People who are considering thread lifting
often say this in the consultation room.
My friend saw results,
but I’m worried it will loosen quickly.
There are so many types of threads
that I don’t know which one is right for me.
Some people say the results were good,
while others say they fell short of expectations,
so it is only natural to feel confused.
But what we feel during consultations is that
much of the difference in results comes not so much from the procedure itself,
but from whether the person’s skin condition and degree of sagging
were properly assessed.
In other words, rather than where you get the procedure,
it is more important to accurately understand your own condition
beforehand.
Today, for those considering thread lifting for the first time,
I will explain two things you must check before the procedure.
If you spend just 3 minutes reading this,
it should help reduce the chance of failure
and find the procedure you truly need.
Why do thread lifting results differ from person to person?

When we analyze clinical cases,
they mostly come down to one thing.

The difference lies in whether your skin condition
was properly assessed before the procedure.
Thread lifting works by the thread’s barbs physically lifting sagging tissue,
while also stimulating collagen production as the thread is absorbed by the body.
However, this effect varies greatly depending on the current elasticity of the skin.
If the skin still has a certain amount of elasticity left,
the tissue tends to respond well to the stimulation from the thread,
and the skin tends to settle naturally after lifting.
You could say the skin is in a state where it is ready to accept the thread.

On the other hand, if elasticity has already declined significantly,
the story changes.
Even if the thread pulls the tissue upward,
the support may be insufficient,
so the effect may not last long.
We often meet people like this in consultations.
They say, “I’ve had thread lifting before,
but the results were less than I expected.”

When we check through consultation,
it is not uncommon that the procedure was carried out right away
without a precise diagnosis of the skin condition beforehand.
The degree of sagging is the same story.
If the sagging is still in the early stage, even a small number of threads
can produce enough change,
but if the sagging has already progressed a lot,
it may be difficult to achieve the desired result with thread lifting alone.
What determines how long thread lifting lasts?

The second question we hear most often in consultations is:
How long does the effect last?
It is difficult to give an exact number to that question.

To be honest,
the duration varies from person to person depending on the material of the thread used
and the skincare and aftercare habits followed after the procedure.
That is why we always take the time
to explain this part carefully during consultations.
Starting with the material of the thread,
the PDO threads most commonly used nowadays are naturally absorbed by the body
over about 6 months to 1 year.
As they are absorbed,
they stimulate collagen production, so some elasticity remains
even after the threads disappear,
but the lifting effect itself gradually decreases.
PCL-based threads are absorbed more slowly,
so they tend to last longer.
You can think of the choice of material
as the benchmark for duration.

However, just as important as the material
is post-procedure care.
More people than you might expect overlook this part.
During consultations,
some people say things like,
“This time, it seems to have loosened much faster than when I had it done before.”
When we check their lifestyle patterns through consultation,
it is often because they have suddenly become much more active outdoors
or have neglected skin care.

In environments with frequent exposure to ultraviolet rays
or where skin aging progresses quickly,
even the same procedure may lose its effect sooner.
Conversely, if skin elasticity is consistently managed,
the duration tends to be longer.
We recommend checking whether the clinic also provides guidance
on post-procedure care during the consultation.
Thread lifting should begin with understanding the skin condition before the procedure,
and to maintain the expected results for a long time,
material selection and post-procedure care should also be considered together.
I hope the information shared today can serve as a useful guideline
before making your decision.
