When looking into thread lifting,
some people say the results last for a year,
while others say they do not even last six months,
so many of you may have felt unsure about which side to believe.
If you were surprised and thought, “I clearly had it done properly, so why did it sag again so quickly?”,
today’s article will explain the reason clearly.
There is a clear difference between procedures whose effects last a long time and those that do not.
Knowing that difference first before deciding is the smart way to reduce trial and error.
Why do thread lifting results vary so much from person to person?
Effects and duration of thread lifting
In consultations, some people often say,
I had the procedure not long ago,
but it already seems to have sagged.
Did I do something wrong?
You did nothing wrong.
However, there is a clear reason for that result,
and once you understand it, your next choice will be different.
The effects of thread lifting appear mainly through two pathways.
One is the traction effect, in which the barbs on the thread physically lift sagging tissue.
The other is the regenerative effect, in which collagen forms around the thread and improves the skin’s elasticity itself.
When these two occur together,
the effect lasts longer.
However, depending on the type and number of threads used, and the insertion site,
the balance between these two effects can vary greatly.
If threads with weak lifting force are used,
or if the number of threads is insufficient relative to the degree of sagging,
it may look lifted at first,
but the tissue cannot withstand the weight and may return to its original state within a few months.
On the other hand, if an adequate amount of thread is inserted in the proper location,
even after the thread has fully dissolved, the collagen-adhered tissue can act as an internal support structure,
so the effect lasts much longer.
That is why the same procedure can last 3 months for one person and more than 1 year for another.

Effects and duration of thread lifting
Meanwhile, you may have heard that people with a lot of facial fat or thick skin see less effect.
That is not entirely wrong, but it can be improved to a large extent by adjusting the type and number of threads.
However, depending on the degree of sagging and the condition of the skin, some people may be better suited to a different method than thread lifting.
At Globi, we do not recommend forcing the procedure when it is difficult to expect good results.
How long does thread lifting realistically last?
Effects and duration of thread lifting
Then, if you receive a properly designed procedure,
how long does it actually last?
Then please just tell me honestly how long it lasts.
Whenever this question comes up in consultations,
I give the same answer.

The realistic duration is
between 6 and 12 months.
If you start with overly high expectations,
it can lead to disappointment later,
so it is much better to know realistic numbers from the beginning.
Another question that comes up often is this:
Do non-dissolvable threads last longer?
To begin with, the duration of the effect depends more on the “design” than on the “material.”

In fact, non-dissolvable threads can accumulate inside the face and place a burden on future retreatment,
so if you are considering repeated procedures,
dissolvable threads are the safer choice.
There are cases where the effect remains even after the threads have fully dissolved,
because collagen-adhered tissue formed along the treatment path takes over the role of support.
However, this varies depending on the skin’s regenerative capacity and post-procedure care,
so it cannot be expected to be the same for everyone.

The timing for retreatment is
appropriate around 10 months to 1.5 years,
based on the point at which satisfaction starts to decline.
Rather than after it has completely disappeared, receiving a touch-up while some effect still remains is more natural and can provide a cumulative effect.
For reference, swelling after retreatment tends to be less than after the first procedure,
so the burden of repeat procedures is not as large as many people think.
Thread lifting is a procedure that can yield satisfying results
when started with proper design and enough information.
However, it is not suitable for everyone in the same way.
First confirming whether thread lifting is the right choice for your case,
and what kind of design is needed,
is an effective way to reduce trial and error.
It is Globi’s principle to transparently disclose the precautions and possible side effects that patients must know.
