When considering thread lifting, the first thoughts that probably come to mind are something like these:
Does it really work?
What if the results are not noticeable?
Even after looking into it, there is so much information that
it is difficult to know what to trust,
and it is only natural to worry that you might end up simply wasting your money.
That is why, in this post, we will summarize the key points that people considering thread lifting ask about most often—from how to choose a procedure before treatment to how to maintain the results afterward.
If you take just three minutes to read this,
you will have a basis for deciding
whether this is the right procedure for you.
Thread lifting,
How does it lift the face?

There is one question we hear most often in the consultation room:
“It is not surgery, so does it really lift the face?”
That is a natural question.
It can be difficult at first to understand how the face can be lifted without making an incision.
So let us start by explaining the principle.
When threads with barbs are inserted beneath the skin,
the barbs catch onto the tissue and pull it upward.
Just as hook-and-loop tape attaches to and stays fixed on fabric,
the barbs on the threads anchor into the tissue beneath the skin and pull up sagging areas.
Many people know this much, but in fact, this is not the entire effect of thread lifting.
Immediately after the procedure, the threads physically pull the tissue upward, producing an immediate change in facial contours.
Then, over the following several months,
a second effect begins:
As the threads are gradually absorbed by the body,
they stimulate the surrounding tissue and new collagen is produced.
This is why firmness can be maintained even after the threads have completely dissolved.

However, there is one thing we would like to emphasize.
During consultations,
we sometimes meet people who ask,
“Why did I not see any results?”
When we discuss their situation, there is usually one common factor.
In most cases, the number of threads used was far too small compared with the degree of sagging.
No matter how good the threads are, it is difficult to expect a noticeable change if an adequate number is not used.
It is like trying to lift a heavy load with a single thread.

There is one more point we would like to mention.
If the skin is very thin or its condition is unstable,
we may not recommend the procedure itself.
At Globie, if concerns about side effects outweigh the expected benefits,
we prefer to explain this honestly.
That is why, during the consultation, we directly assess the areas of sagging and the skin thickness before determining both the number of threads and whether the procedure is appropriate.
What is truly important during the recovery process

Once you understand the principle, the next step is post-procedure care.
Quite a few people are disappointed with their results because they overlook this part.
“Isn’t it enough just to have the procedure done properly?”
To be honest, that is only half right.
It takes at least four weeks for the thread barbs to become firmly integrated with the skin tissue,
and improper actions during this period can disrupt the fixation.

First, let us talk about pain.
Because sedation and local anesthesia are used together during the procedure,
the pain caused by the procedure itself is not significant.
However, from the evening of the day of treatment, once the anesthesia wears off,
you may feel a heavy pulling sensation or a foreign-body sensation.
This can usually be adequately controlled with the prescribed pain medication,
and it naturally subsides after about a week.
Swelling is usually most severe on days two to three,
and then begins to decrease.
During this period, cold compresses can be very helpful.
Apply one to the skin for about 10–15 minutes,
then rest for 20–30 minutes,
and repeat.
When sleeping, it is best to keep your head elevated on a pillow higher than usual and lie on your back.
Because swelling tends to move downward with gravity,
you should avoid sleeping face down for four weeks.

You may wash your face starting the following day,
but avoid rubbing vigorously for one to two weeks.
Light exercise, such as a gentle walk, is fine from three to four days after the procedure,
but strenuous exercise that raises your blood pressure, such as running,
should be postponed until after four weeks for safety.
It is also best to consciously reduce tough or hard foods
and movements that require opening your mouth wide, such as yawning,
for three to four weeks.
Although these actions may seem minor,
they can affect the fixation of the threads.
During the early stage after the procedure, the skin may appear uneven or dimpling may occur,
but these issues generally resolve naturally.
However, if they remain after one month,
they may become fixed as the tissue integrates,
so at Globie, we always conduct a follow-up examination during the fourth week.
If any dimpling or unevenness remains,
we address it smoothly through appropriate molding or correction based on the condition.
With thread lifting, accurate diagnosis before the procedure and subsequent care affect the results just as much as the treatment method itself.
In particular, transparently explaining the possibility of side effects and the necessary precautions is the first principle Globie follows during consultations.
“Is thread lifting the right procedure for my face?”
“How many threads are needed for the degree of sagging?”
Before experiencing trial and error due to incorrect information,
we recommend first receiving an accurate diagnosis.
*The effects and side effects of all procedures may vary from person to person.
