The most important thing in plastic surgery is to follow the basics. Procedures should be designed with the patient’s entire lifetime in mind. Both the process and the results must be safe. 글로비 always puts patients first.
Consultation is an important step that leads to surgery. To help you be satisfied with your surgical results, we promise personalized consultations with medical professionals who have extensive clinical experience.
Postoperative care can also be considered an extension of the surgery itself. We provide personalized care programs to help patients recover quickly.
When you look for philtrum reduction reviews,
most of them contain similar comments.
I’m satisfied with the results now that the swelling has gone down.
There is barely any scarring.
But when surgery is actually approaching,
there are other things people truly want to know.
How much bleeding to expect, whether removing the stitches hurts,
and when it is possible to go outside without a mask.
These are topics that reviews do not often cover.
In this post, we will organize the practical information
that would have made the process much less stressful
if you had known it before surgery.
Scarring Concerns: The Incision Location Makes the Difference
Philtrum Reduction Review
I heard that philtrum reduction surgery
leaves a scar. Is that really true?
This is the question we hear most often in the consultation room.
Many people decide to undergo surgery because they are concerned about the philtrum,
but end up hesitating at the last minute because of worries about scarring.
It is easy to understand why they feel that way:
the philtrum is located at the very center of the face,
so even a slightly visible scar can inevitably stand out.

What matters is not simply whether a scar remains,
but where the scar is located.
Because philtrum reduction involves removing skin,
an incision itself cannot be avoided.
However, where that incision is concealed
depends entirely on the surgical method.
In the past, incisions directly beneath the nose or above the lip line
were commonly used.
Although effective, these incisions were located where scars could easily be seen.
In particular, because of the skin characteristics of East Asians,
scars can sometimes become prominent.
We have seen people express regret about scarring
after undergoing surgery using this method.

For this reason, we now place the incision inside the nostrils.
Even when it needs to be extended slightly toward the alar area,
the scar remains along the inner boundary of the nose,
which can greatly reduce how much it is exposed when viewed from the front.
In addition to removing skin,
we may also tie and lift the tissue from the inside with sutures.
This approach can help improve the length of the philtrum
while minimizing the amount of skin removed.

However, this method is not suitable for everyone.
For example, if the philtrum is excessively long
or there are structural issues involving the nose and lips,
it may be difficult to achieve the desired change
with this procedure alone.
For such cases, we provide patients with an honest explanation
at the consultation stage.
Even when the surgical method is carefully designed,
the results may be affected if postoperative care is neglected.
We will continue with that topic below.
The Week Before Stitch Removal: The Reality No One Talks About
Philtrum Reduction Review
I wish I had known in advance
how to manage daily life after surgery.
It would have made me much less anxious.
The recovery process is another aspect
that is not often covered in review posts.
But once the surgery is over,
this is what feels most real.
For about one to two days immediately after surgery,
a small amount of blood may come from inside the nose.
It may be alarming the first time you see it,
but this can occur as the incision heals.

The most important thing at this time is not to touch the inside of the nose.
Repeatedly wiping it with a cotton swab or sniffing forcefully
can cause inflammation at the wound site.
It is sufficient to gently dab away any flowing blood with gauze,
and it is best not to touch the wound inside the nose.
Swelling is usually at its most severe on the third day,
and the stitches are removed on the seventh day.
Many people say that they finally feel able to return to their daily routines
after the stitches are removed.
In fact, makeup can be applied starting the day after stitch removal,
so wearing a mask is essential during the first week after surgery.
Therefore, it is advisable to schedule surgery
with approximately ten days of flexibility
for the wound to heal and the area to look natural.

There is one more thing you must take care of:
sun protection.
As the cells in the surgical area regenerate,
the area becomes particularly vulnerable to hyperpigmentation
for about two months.
Therefore, excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays during this period
may increase the likelihood of the scar becoming discolored.
We recommend applying sunscreen carefully whenever you go outside.
Even if the incision is carefully concealed,
neglecting this aspect can lead to less satisfactory scar care.
It is therefore one of the points we emphasize especially
when providing postoperative instructions.
Philtrum reduction is a relatively simple procedure,
but both the surgical method and recovery care
directly affect the results.
In consultations, we have often seen cases
where the final outcome was changed by something as small as the location of a scar
or a single habit during the recovery period.
At 글로비성형외과의원, our principle is to provide realistic information
before surgery, just as much as we focus on achieving good results.
This is because we believe that honestly explaining potential complications
is the starting point for making the right choice.
