During consultations, we often meet people
who have already decided on their implants.
“Please use Motiva,”
or “I heard Mentor is good,” for example.
But to be honest,
the same implant may be the right answer for one person
but an unsuitable choice for another.
If you are considering breast augmentation, from the types of surgical methods
to the criteria for choosing implants, I will walk you through this article step by step
to help you determine what is truly right for you.
Things to Ask About First,
Before Considering the Incision Location
Types of Breast Augmentation
An armpit incision is the best, right?
Some people come to the consultation room
with their decision already made.
However, when treating patients,
I have come to realize that understanding your individual breast characteristics
first is far more important than choosing the incision method first.

There are three main types of breast augmentation incisions:
the armpit, areola, and inframammary fold.
The key question is not “Which one is better?”
but rather,
“Where is it right for me to conceal the scar?”
An armpit incision does not leave a mark on the breast itself,
so it is often recommended for people who are particularly concerned about scars.
Because the procedure is performed with direct visualization using an endoscope,
it also allows for a sufficiently precise approach.
Inframammary fold incisions have become increasingly common
as larger implant sizes have grown more popular.
They provide ample room for insertion, making it relatively easy
to create a precise inframammary fold line,
and because the scar is located where it is concealed when standing or wearing clothes,
it is generally not a significant burden.
An areolar incision allows the height of the inframammary fold
to be adjusted flexibly during surgery, making it useful in cases
with left-right asymmetry or when revision surgery is needed.
However, if the areola is too small in diameter,
there may be limitations on implant insertion.

In terms of recovery after surgery, regardless of which incision method is chosen,
much of the initial swelling usually subsides within approximately two weeks,
and many patients can return to their daily routines
around one week after surgery.
However, it is advisable to avoid strenuous exercise or positions that compress the breasts
for approximately 4–6 weeks,
and beginning scar care after the stitches are removed
can help with recovery.
The applicable range of each incision method varies
depending on the individual patient's areola size, skin condition,
and desired implant size, so it is difficult to make a definitive judgment
without a direct examination.

During consultations, we use Crisalix 3D simulation
to help you visually review the expected results of each incision method in advance.
Many patients tell us that their previously vague concerns
become much more concrete and organized.
Once the incision method has been narrowed down to some extent,
the next consideration naturally becomes implant selection.
Why We Cannot Immediately Answer the Question,
“Which Is Better, Mentor or Motiva?”
Types of Breast Augmentation
I saw online that
Motiva is supposed to be the best.
Can't I just choose that one?
It is difficult to answer this question immediately with,
“Yes, that's right.”
This is because implant results depend not on the superiority of the brand itself,
but on how well the implant matches the patient's physical characteristics.

Motiva has a supple texture and naturally changes shape
according to movement.
Its smooth shell surface causes less tissue irritation during insertion,
and many people seek it out because its surface technology and other features
have been enhanced to reduce the possibility of complications
such as capsular contracture or rupture.
However, it is true that the higher price range
comes with a greater financial burden.
Mentor is an implant whose safety has been established
through extensive clinical data over many years.
Its soft feel is one of its strengths,
but there is one point I would like to emphasize.

Many people think that “the feel is determined by the implant,”
but in reality, the thickness of the skin covering the implant
and the amount of breast glandular tissue
have a much greater influence.
It is the same principle as placing the same object
under a thin blanket and a thick blanket:
the sensation felt by hand is completely different.

For people with a certain amount of skin and tissue,
Mentor may actually provide a more satisfying feeling of being “like my own flesh,”
and it can also be a reasonable option in terms of cost.
Conversely, if the skin is very thin
and there is almost no fat layer,
it may be difficult to achieve the desired feel
regardless of which implant is selected.
In such cases, rather than focusing on the surgery itself,
it is more appropriate to first determine whether your current condition
is suitable for surgery.

If we determine that the conditions are not suitable,
we will tell you honestly and will not recommend
an unnecessarily risky procedure. This is 글로비's principle.

Breast augmentation is not simply a procedure to increase size;
it is a process of finding the optimal balance
that suits your body shape and individual characteristics.
After receiving transparent information about possible complications,
such as capsular contracture or changes in sensation,
as well as the necessary precautions,
it is not too late to make your decision.

suited to your individual case,
